I was a bit surprised to see the shipping weight of the package was 111 lbs (thank goodness for free shipping), but I felt that this meant it was a nice sturdy cabinet. I just finished putting it together & it looks great. I did spend around 4 hours on assembly, but I was also working alone. I looks great in my living room and its nice & sturdy. The doors on the front slide very smoothly on their track, which is nice. The instructions say the only tool you're going to need is a screwdriver & even provides a little screwdriver-like tool, but you are definitely going to need a drill. You have to attach the pieces that keep the doors on track to the door panels & the predrilled holes are only about a millimeter deep (& in some cases didn't always match up). I don't see how you could screw these in without a drill. When I went to install the shelves, I was surprised to find that only 3 shelves would be tall enough to hold a row of dvds sitting vertically with the 4th row being shorter than the others (and it was the same for both the top & bottom sections). Based on the picture, I thought each section of the cabinet held 4 shelves with dvds on each shelf sitting vertically, so I feel a little mislead. I had to turn some dvds on their side & stack them horizonally on the shorter shelves, which isn't a big deal, but I did expect to be able to have 8 shelves tall enough to each hold a row of dvds. Also this cabinet is only deep enough to hold dvds so if you were looking to use it as a bookshelf or anything similar, I don't think you'll find that it's deep enough to suit your needs.

It aggrivates me to no end to pay more then $20 for furniture and receive cardboard. The entire backing of this cabinet is card board. It aggrivatest me even more to pay more then $100 for a media cabinet and have it arrive cracked, lumpy, and the laminate short in places. You are expected to put 44 some odd screws in the card board to attach it to the cabinet. The cabinet sways until this is secured. They do not predrill these holes. In my case, several of the screws split the press-wood inside the cabinet.
Complaints said, I will give the company a 10 out of 10 for their packaging. The box came cross country from CA and arrived very beat up and smashed. I opened the box and there was no damage to the cabinet due to shipping. They put cardboard pads in side the box and then mulitple layers of foam to protect it. The foam had been smashed flat in some places, but the actual product was not affected. When I opened the box it did 'snow' a bit in my house. I spent quite some time pulling out each individualy peice and removing foam bits with the vaccum.
I put a little over 300 dvd/ blu rays in the cabinet and it is almost completly full. I was only able to place 5 spaces far enough apart to place my cases side by side. The other 5 spaces the cases have to lay long ways and you can only place 3 stacks per shelf.
From afar it looks ok. I probaly would have never purchased this if I had found it in a store and was able to really look it over. It just is not worth trying to take it apart and ship it back for a refund. It works, but I can not say I'd buy it again at almost three hundred.

I cannot recommend that anyone buy this unit.

Let me get the only positives out of the way first: it looks fairly attractive once it is assembled and bolted to your wall.

Now for the negatives. First, the instructions are abysmally unclear. They also lead you to a dangerous situation in which the unit is unstable, and the cardboard backing cannot be safely attached without the product falling over, nor can the unit be laid flat on the floor to attach the back without the unit essentially snapping in half - the anchors for the locking cams pull right out of the bottom section because the top and bottom of the unit are supported by the floor, but the middle is not. I finally got the cardboard back on by stabilizing the unit against a wall. It should also be noted that this must be the only ready-to-assemble product in the world that uses screws instead of tacks to attach the cardboard backing - this is unnecessary and makes the assembly that much more tedious.

As for material quality, it's particleboard, as one would expect in this price range. The doors and sliding mechanism are of reasonable quality and work well. The overall unit is structurally unsound and very unstable. When stood upright in its final position against a wall, the unit is extremely unstable and prone to tipping over onto its face. I found that the included security screw was insufficient; I decided to use a 2-1/2" screw to anchor the unit into a stud; in order to do this I also had to drill my own hole in the top of the unit to mount the included hardware to it.

VERY IMPORTANT - If you expect to be able to store DVDs and Blu-Rays in this unit, the shelving capacity is **not** as advertised.

This CD rack was delivered on time and when I unpacked it the styro foam was going everywhere. Beyond that unpacking issue this flat packed CD rack looks good except as I was putting it together the particle boards were of poor quality. I couldn't get the lock pins to work very well and when they turned the wood was falling apart. Still with the thing totally put together it is wobbly! I have done MANY of these and have other furniture I have ordered in the same way, but this is crap! But now I have it up and it is too much of a hassle to send it back! So disappointed in the quality. Not worth the money!
