Buyer beware., June 7, 2011

No doubt, this excellent compilation of well-known and relatively obscure blues artists will please anyone who does NOT own the original vinyl box set of four albums. Liner notes, compilation style, audio, all rate five stars. So, why only three? The vinyl collection contained 103 tracks. The cd collection has 83. Now, 20 tracks gone is NOT an insignificant deletion. Bad job on this editing. Each of the four cds is close to the 80-minute cap, so we're not short-changed on time. What should have been done is to keep all 20 tracks by adding another cd, looping the sections, so that the buyer would get the depth and expanse of the original vinyl set. So, if you never owned the records and can't get your hands on it, this abridged version will be great. If you already have the 103 songs on vinyl, you'll be very disappointed at the cutbacks here.
