Durable, efficient, yet still so compact!
on May 23, 2014
I bought this stand on a whim after purchasing the Atlantic Gaming Desk from Walmart, as it matches both the style and functionality of the desk, and wow, am I impressed.
First off, the stand has some great functionality. I cleaned half my closet worth of video game equipment in a matter of minutes after putting this thing together. Two guitar controllers, a headset, easily 12 games, six controllers, and two consoles. Oh, and that isn't even considering the 38" TV on top! Needless to say, this thing has great space for certain gaming equipment. The stand may be a bit wobbly (same as the desk, actually), but it is still quite stable. I haven't tried sitting on it or anything, but I haven't noticed any buckling, bending, warping, or the like after a couple of months of it holding absolutely everything but the kitchen sink. Assembly was a bit tough in certain parts, and there were some places were holes were drilled incorrectly, but this was not a challenge for me, since I have my own power tools. I was able to assemble this in about an hour on my own, and that is including the time taken to get it all out of the packaging. Overall, there aren't many deal-breakers about this stand.
I did notice a couple of drawbacks to the stand, but nothing terrible that would be worth knocking a star off for. First, do not purchase this to use with the newer generation consoles (in my case, Xbox One), as they will not fit on the stands horizontally (as far as I know, you aren't supposed to stand them up vertically). The stands are only a little over a foot wide, and can only hold consoles such as the PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii/WiiU, and do this quite well. I do wish there were a few more spots to store games (I have quite a few!), but the storage space is still adequate considering the space-saving design. The stand only extends a bit over a couple feet from the wall, and that is including the legs, so it is fantastic in the bedroom, but this could be a problem for large TV's. I wouldn't suggest putting TV's larger than 48" on the stand, as the base may not fit correctly, or it may exceed the weight requirements. Other than that, I'm fairly certain that any TV beneath that size would fit with some room left over (mostly on the sides).
I am very satisfied with this purchase, and would recommend it to a friend or relative looking for space for all of their gaming gear!
