Very Good Budget Carry-On Luggage, July 11, 2010
This review is from: Atlantic Compass 21" Expandable Carry-On Spinner Suiter (Apparel)
Atlantic Compass 21". Very good for the money. This is a 4 wheel bag. Appears to meet all domestic and international carry-on regulations. Be carefull of other carry-on bags out there as some may not meet international carry-on rules. This one seems to be correct. This is a good quality bag. Well designed and well made. I had previously ordered a Samsonite II 20" and that bag seemed way too small. Returned that one. The Samsonite II had better features. On the Samsonite - the pull up handle is adjustable in height. This bag here only has one length on the pull out handle - all the way out. Not a big deal but the adjustable pull out handle on the Samsonite II was a neat feature. The seems/stictching on the Samsonite appear to be of a different design - and a better design. This Atlantic Compass 21" does appear to have strong neat stitching and does look solid. I did find some loose black threads - that I immediately cut. Wouldn't find that issue on a Samsonite - but the Samsonite is twice the price. Not a big deal to me. Two pockets on top - one bigger and one smaller. When bags is on wheels - the top/side smaller pocket is good for passport and airline ticket. Then a larger pocket below. there is a 3rd full bag zipper pocket - that makes this bag expandable by a couple of inches - nice feature. Then the main zipper for the entire bag. The main cabin if roomy and good for a week trip for me - enough for casual clothing. There is also a full length/width mesh see thru zipper inside bag. This Atlantic Compass 21" comes with a plastic snap to attach another smaller bag to this bag. Also comes with a thin light weight garmet bag. Comes with two handles. One on top and one on side. Nicely lined interior with the small clear plastic bag that attaches. Two cloth straps inside. And some elastic pockets inside main cabin/bag. I got the red. Only because it makes it easier for me to find my bag in the overhead bin or anyplace else. Color is more of a maroon softer red. This bag is not a Samsonite nor a Pierre Cardin - but it is a good value. My last carry-on was a generic - but lasted for 15 years until I hit a granite curb very hard in London. I broke the wheel on that generic bag. That is why I purchased a new bag. I only travel a few times per year - so an expensive bag is not for me. This Atlantic Compass 21" is a good bag and good value. I do love the 4 wheels function.

Results from recent 4 day trip., November 13, 2010
I just flew 6 legs in 4 days, and overall I am very satisfied with this bag.
Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed with the solid construction. Everything was tight, seams were good. All components seem very strong, including a few extra kick-pads to protect the corners.
If I have any concerns it would be for the pull handle, but mine seems to be holding up. there just seems to be a little play in the vertical handle joints. I do, however, really appreciate the length as I am 6'4" and I think they'll last. I picked up my heavy bag via the extended handle several times with no issues.
I will never go back to a 2 wheeled suitcase. These 4 wheels are awesome. The simplicity, and usefulness! It's really great.
The wheel casters are strong and smooth.
I filled my bag with a winter coat, so unzipped the expand a bag zipper (adds 3"). This worked well, with the only negative being a slight tendency for the bag to tip forward. If i would have packed better, i most likely wouldn't have noticed. I had to park it on a wall mostly, front towards the wall, to avoid the tipping. When I removed my coat, and closed the expand a zipper, the forward tipping stopped.
Fits into the overhead bins no problem. (i was on Boeing 700 series planes, 3 seats on the right, 2 on the left.)
It has served me well this week. especially considering i paid about $80. I wouldn't have minded paying over $100 for this bag.

Disappointed, April 6, 2011
I would have to say that I am quite disappointed in this product. I have the Samsonite Silhouette suitcases and I love them, but I wanted a new carry-on and I thought I would branch out to a new company. The Samsonites have held up for a long time and I absolutely love the "spinner" suitcases. They are easy to manage when you have your hands full with luggage and a baby. That is one of the good things about the suitcase. It has the spinner wheels and it is very easy to roll. The second good thing is that it looks nice. But that is where the good things end. These are my main issues with the suitcase:
1- the wheels are very close together on the bottom, so the suitcase flips over very easily. If you have anything packed in the top or front side of the suicase then it will no longer stand upright. It is very annoying to have a suitcase constantly falling over.
2- the zipper broke on the suitcase on the first trip. Very sad :(
Overall, I would not purchase this suitcase again. All of the trouble is not worth saving the extra $50. I will now go back and purchase the samsonite silhouette carry-on again.
