I polished off Shernoff's first tale in the Atlantic Island series and plunged right into AI 2: The Leadership. I couldn't help pushing myself to just read a little bit more...a little bit more as Shernoff slowly revealed key details and the mystery behind The Event. The villain was more realized in this story as Deputy Mayor Tiberius and his belief system became more apparent -- all the more so by the time the book ended.
But, the big kicker was at the end of Chapter 7. I won't spoil it, but I will say I'd been thinking alot about how the island came to be, but I never considered the possibility Theo learned about at the tail end of Chapter 7. Theo continued to grow as a character as his friends leaned on him for support and guidance throughout this ordeal.
The worst part of finishing this book? Waiting for Book 3 in Shernoff's wonderful Atlantic Island series.
