Jaxx First Album,
By Daftpfnk (Tulsa, OK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Atlantic Jaxx (Audio CD)
This album put the Jaxx on the map in England in 97, or actually the singles on it put them on the map. But for some reason amazon has the wrong track listing on here for those interested. Track 1 is an intro and Be Free is track 2. In fact, on the cd itself they have the wrong track listing. Don't see that often. Anyways, heres the correct list.
1.intro 2.basement jaxx - be free(taken from ep2 '95 2nd release) 3.basement jaxx - samba magic(summer daze ep '95 3rd release) 4.corrina joseph - live your life with me(original mix produced by Basement Jaxx '96 7th release) 5.basement jaxx - fly life(taken from ep3 '96 6th release) 6.basement jaxx feat adrianna montero - eu nao(take 3 taken from sleazy cheeks ep '96 8th release) 7.the heartists - belo horizonti(brix edit by Basement Jaxx '96 9th release) 8.corrina joseph - lonely(original mix produced by basement jaxx '97 11th release) 9.basement jaxx - set yo body free(taken from urban haze ep '97 10th release) 10.basement jaxx - daluma(taken from ep3 '96 6th release) 11.ratcliffe - grapesoda(taken from the city dreams ep '95 4th release) 12.ronnie richards - missing you(take 2 produced by Basement Jaxx '97 12th release) 13.basement jaxx - undaground(taken from ep1 '94 1st release)

Atlantic Jaxx Recordings - A Compilation,
This review is from: Atlantic Jaxx (Audio CD)
Hands down, some of Basement Jaxx's work best work. Although this is billed as a "compilation," it's 100% Basement Jaxx, either through production or remix. The album starts off with "Be Free" and "Samba Magic," two tracks that will stand up as some of the best house ever made. Then comes the one-two punch of "Live Your Life With Me" and it's dubbed out sister, "Fly Life." For those in a more Latin mood, "Eu Nao," "Daluma" and the Heartist's "Belo Horizonti" will have you hosting a fiesta in no time at all. There's not a weak track in the bunch -- but especially good is Corrina Joseph's "Lonely" -- proof that house can be just as emotion and evocative as any other form of music.

Good Compilation,

I'm a big fan of "Fly Life" and that encouraged me to buy the CD. Needless to say, I had never heard many of the tracks before but I enjoyed them anyway. The CD order of tracks was off but that was the only flaw.
