The reason I have given 5 stars is due to the price, the height, and excellent functional design. As you know, speaker stands are ridiculously overpriced. These are reasonable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best stands for the price
First of all, a decent pair of speaker stands usually cost far more than these. Shopping around I couldn't find anything comparable to these for less than $50 a pair, and most ran closer to $75 a pair. Now the downside, I ordered two pairs of these stands for my front and rear satellite speakers. On one of the stands the indentation on the base for the logo sticker was...

The reason I have given 5 stars is due to the price, the height, and excellent functional design. As you know, speaker stands are ridiculously overpriced. These are reasonable.

Speaker wire can be completely hidden. The wire feeds through the stand and comes out the top for connection to your speakers. There is a cool little "U" shape on the front foot where the speaker wire comes out on the bottom. It keeps the speaker wire directed where you want it to be directed on the base. It's a very well thought out design feature that I've not seen on other stands. With tile floors, it makes a big difference for me. It keeps the speaker wire directed under the sofa where I want it so it can't be seen.

Now on to stability-

If you have hard flooring, you will be able to extend the stands all the way up if you screw the speakers to the bottom plate. The base is surprisingly stable and it has rubbery stuff on the bottom to keep it from sliding. If the stands will be on carpet, you may not be able to fully extend them unless you have small speakers. My son's system has small speakers. They are back mounted to the stand with a screw and nut that fit inside a metal bracket that can be removed for screw mount. His speakers are on berber carpet. With his small lightweight speakers he is able to fully extend these with no wobble.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some details, February 24, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First, the box comes with two stands. So ordering "1" means you get a pair.

Second, mounting speakers: They have a small platform on top of the vertical riser, that has four holes in it that you can run screws into the bottoms of your speakers, if you want. The platform is about 2"X3". Then, there's a bracket of sorts that sticks out the back and runs up the back of your speaker, through which you can slot a bolt(included with washers) and that bolt would mount into the threaded thing on the back of your speakers, if you have one. They give you two thread sizes. The bracket runs about 5" up the back, and is slotted the whole length, so no matter where your hole is, it should work. If they don't include YOUR size bolt, just run to the hardware.

Now my logitech 5500's did not have the bolt hole on the back, so I just used the double stick foam they included, and then zip tied the speaker base to the stand's platform and voila. Very nice.

If they could have pulled out a better mounting scheme for MY particular speakers, I'd have given them a 5!!!

Enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best stands for the price, April 14, 2005
This review is from: Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black) (Electronics)
First of all, a decent pair of speaker stands usually cost far more than these. Shopping around I couldn't find anything comparable to these for less than $50 a pair, and most ran closer to $75 a pair. Now the downside, I ordered two pairs of these stands for my front and rear satellite speakers. On one of the stands the indentation on the base for the logo sticker was stamped crooked and two of the clips that hold the bracket down had paint flaking off. The stamping error isn't a big deal and you can't notice unless you look at it close, and the flaking paint on the clips was quickly remedied with some Rustoleum paint. These are small problems, nothing that I mind too much, and certainly not worth detering you from buying these stands. Also, my speakers (Polk Audio RM6750) aren't perfectly flat on all sides and don't mount properly to the stands. The bracket had to be pulled back, and even then the speakers don't sit perfectly flat on the base. But they feel secure enough and I'm not worried about them falling off or anything. Speakers that are more rectangular in shape would probably mount perfectly on these stands though. So just don't expect the world with these stands, if you want something cheap that will hold your small speakers, these can't be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for price alone!, July 13, 2006
This review is from: Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black) (Electronics)
Speakers Used: Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1

Easy to setup...sorta. attaching my speakers on the stands was a bit tricky, but I just tightened the screws a bit more and I feel overall, the stands are very sturdy, provided I don't fully extend them (which I won't, as they are nice and tall fully extended). When you extend them fully, there is a bit of wobble.

The stands Klipsh recommends for these speakers are about $80-90 per pair - heaven forbid you get 2 pair! For the price, these stands are simply wonderful...I had to remind myself they were so inexpensive.

Notice I don't say "cheap" as I don't want to have the word mean the stands are cheap in build as well as price. The build is really great for the price. If you look at the stand bottom, you may find some signs of a poor mold - or whatever they use to make the bottoms - but that's on the underside of the stand - I felt the bottoms themselves were very well designed and I did a "nudge test" to see if the stands would topple. I felt that they withstood the test well. If you cross-check them, yes they will fall, but if they are in a low-traffic area, you're good to go.

If you need stands, get these and save some dough. Please don't drill holes in your speakers as the instructions suggest...speaker abuse, in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Returned due to limited mounting options for Energy Take Classic, January 30, 2009

I bought these for my new Energy Take Classic speakers. The three options for mounting speakers did not work with them. L-shaped clip is too short to mount the speakers with. I don't like the bottom mounting option with tape since the speakers would be taped off center and will fall off the stands. I returned them and bought a Sanus HTB3. The Sanus ones are not as attractive looking and are shorter but did offer a lot more mounting options than the Atlantic stands. Sanus stands tend to have more mounting options including Quickmount for mounting through the key hole...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Stands, July 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I rate these speaker stands 4.5 out of 5.0 (but that's not an option on the pull-down menu). They're definitely better than 4.

These are well designed, high-quality speaker stands at a very low price. The speaker height can be adjusted with the stands' telescopic poles. Many people would be surprised at how much better their sound is when the speakers are at the right height and positioned properly for the room's/setup's accoustics. I was (almost literally) blown away by how much better my THX 5.1 speaker system sounded with seemingly minor position adjustments.

They are medium-to-light gray with a quality matte metal finish. They look and feel like they're well made. But you might need to go to the hardware store to buy screws and matching nuts to properly secure the speakers to the stand platforms. They include two-sided tape and a variety of screws, but oddly don't include any nuts, which my particular speakers needed. The platform comes with a simply designed support bracket that allows most sattelite speakers to fit and be nicely balance balanced without necessarily being attached. The two-sided tape (or a twist-tie, for that matter) should be enough to hold the speakers if there aren't any rowdy lifeforms in the vicinity.

The speaker wire can be run through the center of the telescopic pole, further adding to the clean and contemporary aesthetics.

Of minor note - One of the stand's bases was missing its "Atlantic" decal plate. I found it stuck to the plastic wrapping that the stand came in and put it back on. No big deal.

Overall, these stands are a very good value at under $40 and a fantastic value under $30.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, August 15, 2006
This review is from: Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black) (Electronics)
Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say about these stands. 'Nothing cheap or chintzy about them even though they retail for less than half the price of comparable Bose UFS-20 model. Setup was about half a beer's worth duration. Instructions and organization of parts were pristine!

Two observations that some prospective buyers could find detractive:

(1) A previous review was correct about the stand being slightly off vertical when the stand was put in the fully extended position; lowering from the fully extended position by an inch or so resolved the problem.

(2) If you have Bose speakers with the special four-wire plug the size of a small matchbox (such as the CineMate home theater system has), you will not be able to thread the speaker wire up through the stand; but for any conventional audio jack these stands should allow threading with no problem. (Inner diameter of stand's upper tube is approx. 1/2").

Update: Stands have been in service for over a year now and I remain completely satisfied with their quality and value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Strong Sustainable!, October 24, 2007
This review is from: Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black) (Electronics)
If you're into surround sound or DTS, you're going to need speaker stands, as most speaker systems don't include them. I like these as the flat black color makes them disappear in the room (choose your wood or metal finish carefully). The triangular base really does a great job at keeping them sturdy (although most speakers made nowadays are bomb proof). Depending on your couch or easy-chair, you can adjust the height (up to four feet-two inches), which many stands cannot do. Also, the speaker wire enters the bottom of the stand and is hidden inside the pole - a very nice little feature for purists. Plus, at less than $30 a pair, its a bargain!

Happy Ending (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Atlantic Satellite 77305018 2 Speaker Stands (Black) (Electronics)
Was looking for a great deal on quality speaker stands, I read these reviews here at Amazon at thought I would give it a shot. Ordered three pairs. They arrived this week. Let me say that the reviews above are true, this is a quality stand for a little over $23, unbelievable! Walked through BestBuy and all stands, including the cheaper quality are almost $50 or higher a pair.

This is what I like, solid construction, heavy base, extendable pole, mounting braket appears to be universal for both sit-on and screw to back situations. I also needed a stand that could hold heavy sattelites, the specs states 10lbs, I find this to be true, I see no problems with my heavy sattelites.

Very happy with this deal, can't beat it!
