3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of steamy romance, but more of an isolated plot line, March 21, 2010
I enjoy the Warriors of Poseidon series, and was looking forward to the next installment. I expected this novel to continue the overall plot line of rescuing the jewels of Poseidon's trident, but it focused more on the relations between the factions of supernaturals and the threat of enslavement by a megalomaniac human scientist.

The relationship between Brennan and Tiernan was scorchingly hot. I liked both characters, and some of their interactions were pleasantly un-cliched. Some aspects of their falling in love felt a little inconsistent and rushed. I think I would have liked to see a few more blunders with or resistance to Brennan's curse.

I think this installment was not as well tied to Atlantis as other novels in the series, but it did serve to reacquaint the reader with the 'topside' events and difficulties. I would have liked more of the Atlantean elements, and maybe a few more chapters to flesh out some aspects of plot and characterization, but overall, it was an enjoyable romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, two thousand years of blocked emotions add a steamy intensity to the latest Warriors of Poseidon tale, March 8, 2010
Atlantis Redeemed has a great hook and a most excellent beginning. Atlantean Warrior Brennan was cursed 2000 years ago by Poseidon to feel no emotion until the day he meets his mate and then he is doomed to forget her every time she leaves his sight until the day she dies. Then the most vindictive part of the curse kicks in - he will regain his memory of her so that he can mourn the loss of his soul mate for all eternity. What a wicked curse - never, ever get on a god's bad side.

We met Brennan's mate, reporter Tiernan, in the previous book. Like all the other female soul-mates in the series Tiernan has a more than human power, Tiernan's is that she's a human lie detector. Brennan's first encounter with his mate is incredibly intense, all his emotions come back with a vengeance and he is bombarded with 2000 years of denied emotions at once and quite overwhelmed with his new feelings of lust and possessiveness for his mate - it is only his warriors training which keeps him from succumbing to his desire and claiming Tiernan against her will. Tiernan's power makes it so that she can readily accept the truth of Brennan's curse, which I found refreshing - no drawn out big misunderstanding to overcome- and when Tiernan tests Brennan to see if she can detect his lies - wow! Talk about intense and steamy, Brennan can lie to me anytime.

The intensity level eventually comes down to a more normal level but Atlantis Redeemed still ends up as my favorite in the series so far. There are also good cameos from past pairs, and some vampire intrigue by Daniel and evil scientists who are a threat to shifters and humans both, all which add to the continuing story arc. Can't wait for the next one, Atlantis Betrayed, Cristophe's book out in Sept 2010.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful oceanic romantic fantasy, March 4, 2010
In 202 BC, a raging Poseidon punished Brennan for his cavalier behavior. For the next two millennia plus Poseidon cursed Brennan with feeling no emotion as a just penalty. However, that is only part one; the second half of his chastisement is that once he meets his soulmate, twenty two hundred centuries of no emotion will explode like a supernova but each time they separate he will fail to recognize who she is; that time is now.

In Atlantis Prince Conlon informs Brennan that mortal reporter Tiernan Butler is their contact, as she is investigating evil experiments on shapeshifters by a consortium of humans and vampires. From a photo and then in person he knows she is the one. However, as they work together to unravel the truth at a scientific convention, the curse appears to destroy their chance of everlasting love and also catching the sinister scientists behind the shapeshifter scheme.

The twisted curse refreshes the latest Warriors of Poseidon adventure (see Atlantis Unleashed, Atlantis Unmasked, Atlantis Awakening and Atlantis Rising). The lead couple is a terrific pairing as Tiernan deals with Brennan and his curse while seeking an evil group preparing to destroy Atlantis and much more. Fans will relish the latest oceanic romantic fantasy as Alyssa Day moves her overarching plot forward with a wonderful entry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Atlantis Redeemed, May 2, 2010
For a thousand years, Atlantean warrior Brennan has been cursed by the god Poseidon for a youthful transgression. His curse keeps him from being able to experience emotions. He also has to live with the knowledge that when he finally finds his mate, he is destined to forget her if she is ever out of his sight. Brennan has no feelings whatsoever and has gotten used to this, until he comes face to face with investigative reporter Tiernan Butler.

Investigating undercover, Tiernan is attending a medical conference with the hope of getting information on hidden experiments being done on shape shifters and humans. The death of her best friend is the catalyst that forces Tiernan to pursue this endeavor and she is so close to being able to find the masterminds behind these horrible tests. Tiernan doesn't have time to pacify the huge warrior who is intent on sticking to her like glue. And then she realizes that what Brennan is telling her is true, she is his mate and he is doomed to forget her.

Evidently Alyssa Day loves for me to cry! I found myself more than once tearing up at Brennan and Tiernan's situation. What starts out as a means to an end (Brennan's curse) becomes so much more between these two strong characters. Tiernan's unconditional love and loyalty is more than evident in Atlantis Redeemed. I couldn't catch my breath, my pulse raced, and I began to sweat. Hoping for the happy ending I think Brennan deserves, I couldn't have even begun to imagine the way the plot ended - I was surprised and very happy with it. Don't miss this strong addition to Ms. Day's Warriors of Poseidon series. It is definitely one of the best so far!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cursed to Not Feel for Thousands of Years..., June 29, 2011
In his youth, Brennan messed around with a girl (who happened to be a favorite of Poseidon), knocked her up and then she killed herself. In retaliation, Poseidon cursed Brennan to never feel anything. No emotions at all. Part of the curse was that when he did meet his soul mate, all of his feelings would rush back to him all at once, but only when she is within his sight. As soon as she is out of his line of vision, he would forget her completely and his feelings would once again leave him. Only when his beloved dies, only then would his emotions and memory of her be restored so he would mourn her forever. (Hint, hint Don't Piss Off The Gods!)

Tiernan is a reporter and a walking lie detector. She can sense when anyone tells the smallest fib to the greatest lies. Brennan and Tiernan are paired up to investigate a group of evil scientists researching and experimenting with brain washing and mind control on shape shifters. This hits Tiernan hard because her best friend (a were-fox) was captured, experimented on and killed by this group.

Brennan must keep his beloved Tiernan safe even as they are sucked into the center of the evil scientists stronghold. Then there's always the second half of Brennan's curse to worry about...

This is a great addition to the series although it doesn't follow with the other books where there is a search for a gem of power. I definitely shed a few tears at the end of this one... some for sorrow others for joy... Definitely a great ending!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feelings revieled, January 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I loved this story with Brennan and Tiernan! I loved how quickly everything got excepted as opposed to the previous books where it took a little while. Granted I would have been as aggravated as Tiernan to have her lover forget her every morning, but the plot line was great, and the characters were very appealing! I would most definitely recommend this book to all romance readers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good (not great, but a solid good), April 13, 2010
I liked both Brennan's character and the heroine Tiernan. This book is a more isoloated plot line that the rest of the series, I like the deviation to keep it fresh, but alittle tie in to the overall plot would have been nice. May be a little confusing to someone who is not familiar with the series. A lot of twist that you will not catch if you have not read the other books, but is still enjoyable without it, just not as much. ***I have read all the books and cant remember what happened to Deidre, who had a dramatic death scene (I guess I'll have to backtract that.)***

LOVED the scenes with the other Atlanteans, they were great, deep and funny at times. The altercation between Brennan and Alaric was good.

Spolier** When Tiernan "returns" to Brennan and says she was sent back by Corlia (that just sucked, too neat a finish up that actually did not fit and did not make any sense). So yeah when the book wrapped up there was some too neat, wrap up nonsence with parts that seemed a little contrived, and like the author was just trying to move the book along in a big jump.....

I like that the torture was not sexual in nature for a change, a nice change to get away from too much rape in these paranormal romance books the last couple of years. I actually like that the big bad hero/heroine were actually captured, those were some really well written scenes, that was actually the best part of the book. In most books the heroine is made to be just too good to be true, they ended up captured when in most books it just does not happen, especially to both leads, and it was Tiernan's fault (oops). to described would be too give away too much.

Very Good but not great. Worth a read.

2.0 out of 5 stars A stupid long-lived warrior and his fitting mate, February 19, 2012
Fifth in the Warriors of Poseidon paranormal romance series revolving around Atlantean warriors making up a special guard which protects the crown prince of Atlantis, the Seven. The couple focus is on Brennan and Tiernan Butler out in Yellowstone Park.

My Take

This started so well but somewhat into it, I started hoping that someone would take out Brennan and Tiernan if only for Darwinian purposes.

It was useful to finally discover what was behind the curse laid on Brennan back in 202 BC and Tiernan made some very good points. I am curious if Tiernan educates Brennan on popular culture. There were so many references she made that he didn't understand. I loved the comment she made about him being "a two-year-old who needs juice and a nap"!

Duh. They initiate all these plans, but fail to consider that plans change. And the manner in which they protect needs to change as well. I mean, hullo, they have advance warning as to what they plan to do. They even get a heads-up with that confrontation outside the hotel. Why, oh why wouldn't they be trailing Brennan and Tiernan?? S T U P I D.

More stupid drama with Tiernan freaking out after the soul meld. What a bitch she is! Stupid drama for the sake of it...naughty and lazy, Day. This whole undercover thing is supposed to be so important and Brennan and Tiernan screw it up royally. I mean ROYALLY. For intelligent people, they were both so incredibly dumb.

Day came up with a pretty horrific bad guy set-up; the scary part is that there probably are people out there doing stuff like this. No, I don't mean the paranormal aspect of it...eek...unless some bad guy out there believes in it!

I did like that one encouraging bit when Devon, Jones, and Smith are discussing some setbacks...at last!

The Story

A major conference is taking place at Yellowstone Park consisting of scientists and their backers, the International Association of Preternatural Neuroscience (IAPN). Tiernan is the Atlantean undercover contact for it and the question is whether Brennan can maintain his cool around her. Especially after what happened in Boston. Only there's no choice with four of the Seven off on other missions leaving Alexios, Grace, and Brennan to help Lucas protect his wolves as well as penetrate the conference at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.

It's the attack on Tiernan just as she's arriving that punches Brennan, driving him wild to find her, protect her. Terrify her. It's an impossible time for both of them: Brennan is suddenly inundated by over 2,000 years of emotion as well as the possessive need to protect while Tiernan just doesn't know what to do with over 200 pounds of dangerous, muscled warrior. Then there's Tiernan's particular Gift. One that has kept her alone amongst people.

For the conference, Brennan is undercover as a billionaire financing the experiments to enable him to live longer while Tiernan is going by Tracy Baum. Aliases that almost fall apart when Wesley discovers them in Tiernan's room at the hotel. It barely helps that Alexios and Lucas are undercover as security while Grace will be tending bar.

It all seems safe enough with all their protections in place, but they soon learn the vampires have other plans. Plans that "Tracy" and Brennan fall right into.

The Characters

Brennan hasn't experienced any emotions for over 2,000 years since Poseidon laid a curse on him for dishonoring the Seven when he was 19, causing the death of Corelia and the babe. The only way to break it is for him to meet his mate; the only way to remember her, is for her to die.

Tiernan Butler is a Boston reporter with an eye on a Pulitzer as well as avenging the death of her friend. She's been chasing this story about brain manipulation by the vamps for a long time and she is this close. Rick Lawrence is her editor at the Boston Herald.

The rest of the Seven include the King's Vengeance "Ven", the crown prince's brother with his mate Erin, the gem singer; Lord Justice,

Ven and High Prince Conlan`s half-brother, and his mate, Dr. Keely McDermott; Alexios with his part goddess-huntress Grace; the ever cheeky Christophe; Denal; and, the infrequent Bastien with his park ranger-kitty Kat. Alaric is the High Priest and absorbing some very welcome news he is finally believing that Keely unearthed. Now if only his potential mate would buy into it. Riley Dawson is Conlan's mate and they have a baby boy, Prince Aidan.

Rhys na Garanwyn, High Prince of the High House of the Seelie Court, shows up for Lucas' sons' christening. Lucas is the alpha for the Yellowstone wolf pack; his mate Honey gave birth to twin sons, Lucas Alexios and Nathan Brennan. Litton's experiments are affecting his wolves, driving them mad. Quinn and Jack have a cameo.

Devon is the vampire heading up the group backing the scientists in their experiments. Dierdre appears to be his vampire mate. Smith and Jones are powerful, monied vampires in their own right with Jones quite envious of Devon. The obsequious Mr. Wesley is Dr. Litton's assistant. Dr. Litton is the head of this experimental group with a callous, Nazi-like disregard for life whatever its form. Smitty is one of the guards, a very intelligent guard which poses the greatest threat. Daniel makes a late appearance.

The Cover

The cover is mostly royal blue with a bit of green besides the lovely flesh tones delineating Brennan's naked, muscled back where his trident tattoo gleams on his right shoulder blade. Brennan is wearing new blue jeans and carrying a very short trident against a shipwreck'd background, bubbles beginning to rise from the bottom.

I haven't a clue as to what the title refers, but that's consistent with the rest of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars good addition, July 21, 2010

(VINE VOICE)
I enjoyed reading this addition to the series. I like the idea of the series and I like the fact that the author is trying to keep a solid base conflict throughout the story. They are working at saving the world. In this fight, obviously, the characters have to be strong and not everything is going to work out for the best. It never does in war. I appricate what the author is trying to accomplish in this way, but I don't think she does her research. The shapeshifters don't follow normal animal insticts and the vampires, who are protrayed as being the altimate evil, can be a bit off, too. There is just something not quite right in it all. I think because of this, it doesn't make her characters memorible to me. I've read all the books, yet, I don't remember Deirdre or Erin, or any other lesser known characters that were introduced before. I don't even remember Brennen's reaction to Tiernan that apparently happened in a previous book.

Other than that, I do like the by-play and teasing the characters do with each other. I do enjoy reading the series overall. I still think the first book was the best so far, and I look forward to Alaric's story, although I think Day plans to make us wait quite a long time for it.
