Atlantis Unleashed,
This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Justice has been imprisoned in the Void by the vampire Anubis for months. His humanity and willingness to fight is almost gone. The only bright light in the world of complete darkness are his dreams and visions of his chosen one. Half Atlantean and half Nereid, Justice's rage is held in check while in the Void, but he craves freedom. With the help of another soul in the Void, Justice decides to fight his way to Atlantis. However, the only way to pass through the Void to Atlantis is through death. Praying for the brave man who released him, Justice can't help the bitterness and fury he feels. Seeing the only person his heart beats for, he grabs her and disappears.
Keely McDermott is an archeologist. She also is somewhat of a psychic. Able to read and have visions of anything she touches, Keely wears gloves at all times and never touches an object without bracing herself first. She knows she is a freak - at least that is what her folks think, but Keely just wants to be left alone to discover the past. Finding a hand carved wooden fish years ago, Keely wears it around her neck because it gives her comfort and possibly shows her future with a blue haired warrior that is the sexiest man she has ever seen. Atlantis Unleashed is nothing like I expected, but exactly what I wanted. Keely's gift or it could be a curse, saved Justice from an existence none can imagine. Their seemingly fated romance was a vision both unconsciously saw and ultimately surrendered to. And oh, how they surrendered! Justice, in all of his blue haired glory, is truly a loyal and worthy warrior and brother to the Atlantean king. He and Keely together make sparks fly - even under the water! I can't put to words just how thrilling the Atlantean world is. With subtle but almost magical intuition, Alyssa Day draws her audience into this enchanting world. Atlantis Unleashed is impossible to put down - I found myself riveted from beginning to end. Talia Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

super urban fantasy,
This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
To save the life of his brother, Lord Justice volunteered to become the prisoner of evil vampire goddess Anubisa. She was elated to take the hybrid Atlantan and Nereid as her special guest. His sacrifice has begun to take its toll on his sanity as he has no outlet for his dueling natures.
Archaeologist Dr. Keely McDermott uses her extrasensory skill psychometry to learn what occurred to inanimate objects. She excavates a carving that when she touches it she finds herself linked to its creator; to her shock, that individual is alive though the carving is old and in torment. Their tie enables Justice to escape his bondage. With Anubisa giving chase, they team up seeking the Star of Artemis jewel of Atlantis, needed with the rest of the jewels to destroy Anubisa. This is super Warriors of Poseidon urban fantasy entry starring perhaps the most tormented of the warriors and a courageous human who risk their lives to defy Anubisa. The story line is filled with Alyssa Day's trademark action in several locals. However, it is the lead couple who make this a terrific romantic fantasy thriller as the scientist and the seemingly insane paranormal half-breed team up in love. Harriet Klausner

Alyssa Day is one of the best up and coming authors that I have had the pleasure of discovering. Atlantis Unleashed is fantastic!!!! There's lots of action, well written characters, and a super plot. This book is by far the best out of her Atlantis series to date, and if Unleashed is anything of a teaser to the readers about the next in the upcoming series, then hold on to your hats ladies, cause the ride has just begun!!!!

More Illumination,
This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ah be still my heart...I read the reviews, the sharing of information regarding the plot and alls I can think of is the illumination into the world of Atlantis. Yes Justice sacrificed for his brother. His brothers did not know they were related, and the geas (curse) was put on the telling of it. Whoever he told he would have to kill, or he would go insane. However, just being where he is and being tortured can cause insanity, talk about a double edge sword! When he whispers "brother" at the end of chapter 1 and no one to hear, I had to grab a tissue.
Reading about Justice life, what had transpired to make him the Warrior he is to day, to learn new information about the stones they seek and what may or may not happen (sorry no spoilers from me)was illuminating. Little twists here and there and some light shone on possible books. Although Alyssa I have to say the evil women needs a smack down big time, lets bring it on. Waiting for Atlantis Unmasked , come on July 7th All typos are my own.....

Something old, something new...,
By H. Grove "Errant Dreams Reviews" (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
It isn't Alyssa Day's fault that I'm getting a bit tired of two current romance novel tropes, but well, I am: vamps & werewolves coming out of the closet in droves, and the instant-one-true-mate phenomenon. I don't think she brings anything stunningly new to these two plots, but neither are they just the same as every other writer's take on things. Certainly if you aren't tired of the general concept yet, I think you'll find her version interesting.
The concept of warriors of Atlantis protecting humans, however, is a bit different, particularly since their god Poseidon isn't just a silent figurehead: he's a literal force and power in their lives. Although he sometimes comes across as a bit of a deus ex machina, as well--although I guess that's an inherent danger in including the gods themselves in a story! That said, the most important thing is that Keely and Justice are interesting, strong characters with plenty of chemistry. Keely's ability to read objects is a bit unusual in how it operates, and Justice is starting to discover new abilities related to his own Nereid heritage. While the world concept didn't immediately grab me, the characters did, and more than made up for it. I definitely wanted to read on to find out what happened to them, how Justice regained his sanity, and how hot the sex would be between them---and the book didn't disappoint! Consider my rating a 3.5.

First of this series that I've read and I will now read the rest...,

This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay, this isn't the greatest thing I've ever read, but it was enjoyable enough for me to want to read the rest. I got this book first and have now seen that there are several written so I will need to check them out. With-out reading the prior stories this review maybe a little off, but from a outside point of view here it goes.
Justice is a blue haired Atlantis warrior who is the bastard son of the dead king. He has been hanging out in the "Void" because of an insane and truly evil Vampire Goddess who took him as payment for a perceived debt owed by his father. The "Void" is a level of hell that keeps its prey in a constant state of pain. Justice's only hope is the visions he has of his red headed green eyed mate who lives in the real world, but has a gift. She can see the history of an object by touching it. She can see Justice too, but only because she wears an amulet craved years ago by what she thinks is a long dead warrior, when she touches the amulet it shows her Justice. While Justice struggles to keep sane Keely is visited by a man named Liam (who also just happens to be a warrior from Atlantis). Liam tells her that Atlantis exists and she is invited to his home as one of a few Archeologist before his King announces to the world that Atlantis is not a myth. Fast forward a ways and she is in Atlantis at which she comes across Justice who escapes the void and kidnaps her to have some "alone time" because he knows her to be his mate. She on the other hand is totally freaked out for a good part of the book. There is a whole lot more to the story which is why I gave the book 4 stars. The characters are well developed and then there are several more characters in the book then the ones I named. Each character gets it time to shine. I'd say this book was actually more about character development then plot. I did think the writer was knowable about Atlantis and History, but the story line jumped around allot from one character to another, just when you would get into Keely and Justice the writer would change the chapter and switch to whole other character - that I was not too pleased with. Again though the writing is good, with characters you can sink your teeth into, and I liked the flow - very poetic almost. You can tell Alyssa Day has a true talent for writing by just the first chapter.

Still entertaining, but the Alpha males are getting too similar.,

Justice doesn't seem very much different than Ven. The reaction to the soul-melding is just too similar in all the males. It becomes repetitive if you read them all in short time.
The battles against the vampires are different. Some of the conflicts are different, the stories are different. But, the main characters involved are the same. The sexual parts are quite too similar. It is still good, still entertaining, but some of the things didn't change from the first book to this one.

Atlantis Unleashed by Alyssa Day,

Finally! After a way too long wait, the Atlanteans are back! "Atlantis Unleashed" continues the story of Poseidon's warriors who have been called to save humanity and bring Atlantis back to the surface. To do this, they must gather the missing jewels from Poseidon's trident or Atlantis will crumble rather than rise and humankind will fall to the bad guys.
Lord Justice sacrificed himself to save his brothers and ended up tortured by the vampire goddess Anubis. Did I mention she's really good at the torture thing? While escaping, Justice had to open himself to the Nereid side of his nature and now he is two beings in one body...a bit crowded, don't you think? But from his first glmipse of this human woman, Keely, BOTH sides claimed her for his own. Now they are in a desperate race to find the lost star of Artemis and Justice is finding it hard to hold himself back from the woman who is too good for a bastard child of a king. Keely can't quite believe it at first...Atlantis is read and her weird skill can actually help them! When she's taken down to the watery kingdom, she knows this will be the biggest archaeological find of her career...even if she can't tell anyone about it. Then she sees the man she's been dreaming about, Lord Justice, and he claims her like a possession. At first she's frightened, then intrigued, and soon in love. But she'll have to accept BOTH sides of his nature AND convince him that her love doesn't come with a measuring bar. I'm a sucker for this series. The baddies are really bad (mostly vamps and weres) and the good guys are awesome (and WAY sexy). With each book and each warrior's story, I swear that it's my favorite...until the next one comes out. If you like tortured heroes, then Lord Justice is your dream guy. He's tortured physically (by Anubis), mentally (by his dual nature), and psychologically (by his illegitimate birth). That's one screwed up dude! But reading about his early years will bring a tear to your eye and watching him find the woman who loves him for all of him was wonderful. Keely was mentally strong and showed her grit in their search for the stone and fighting their enemies. I see some definite threads for future books in this one. I like the sexy parts of this series, the overarching plotline, the individual plots of each book, the heroes, the heroines, the action, the mysteries...ummm, did I leave anything out? "Atlantis Unleashed" was worth the wait (and that's hard for me to say) but I'm especially happy that "Atlantis Unmasked" is already available so I can continue Alyssa Day's fab series.

Books 1-2 okay... this one NABBED me off the bat,

This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I started reading this series last week. I actually "rented" the books and the related anthologies containing short stories belonging to this series from Booksfree. I found all to be "okay" reads. I would have rated them in between 3 and 3.5. No higher. Then I got "Atlantis Unleashed" ... and I fell in love. I fell in love with Justice and Keely and, to me, if I fall for the main characters the book turns into a true winner.
I am glad that I actually read the previous books though, as there is world creation in this series and it involves more than one subplot (quite similar to other paranormal romance series i.e. Black Dagger Brotherhood or even the Dark Hunters). This type of series has, I would dare say, elements of urban fantasy as to that respect. However, to this author's credit, she doesn't loose track of the romance, contrary to other authors that are also following this "pattern". I am not ready yet to declare the whole series a winner (1 out of 3 is not a great track record), however, I will definitely continue reading the series.

Too Many Storylines,
By Holly D. Hubert "Book Nerd" (Beaumont, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Atlantis Unleashed (Warriors of Poseidon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Posted 6/10/2009: I thought the previous two books were okay by this author so I decided to buy this one. She followed about 12 different people and each of their storylines. This became so hard to follow! If I hadn't read the back of the book, I would have even know who the main characters were. I finally became discouraged and quit reading. Also, the scenes were over developed. It took 10 pages to describe the smallest things. EVERY persons thoughts were detailed, so it became to hard to follow and really relate to anyone. Should have spent time with the main characters and stuck with them, rather than trying to put together everyone elses storylines for future books.
