Cults is a great game if you want a fun pseudo serious strategy game (Diplomacy it aint!) This game is a blast and mix in a few libations and you have a hit!
Get this if:
You have an odd sense of humor
You enjoy the randomness of things (you plans will go sideways)
You just want to have fun, and don't care about winning, sometimes losing in such a crazy way is more fun.

Avoid this if:
You are a +20 rules lawyer who is also never wrong
You have a colorectal shrub engaged and are very dour
You must win with your superior stratagem.
