4.0 out of 5 stars street brawling with cards
I like this game. The rules are pretty simple and the cards are hilarious if you like dark humor. Like other reviews, I found the colors to be so muted that this game should be played in a well lit area the first few times. Some people will find the game to be offensive, too, so I recommend doing more research to see if it's going to suit you and your family / friends...

"Like Lunch Money, Beer Money combines evocative images with the raw dynamics of a merciless street fight."

The promise of merciless street fighting and evocative imagery? I can't say they don't deliver as promised. Unfortunately, the "evocative imagery" doesn't seem to be realted to the game in any way. The pictures on...

Beware the Hippie card and remember you can use Dodge + Grab + (Basic Attack) to deflect an attack and get an attack IN on someone else's turn!

The pictures on the cards are of a teenage girl in a white dress and Doc Martins wandering angerly through a mysterious forest. Maybe I just don't get it, but shouldn't they have something to do with a bar fight?

Not only does the "evocative imagery" completely clash with the concept of the game, but it also makes it difficult to play. The pictures are printed in extremely muted tones, so it's hards to see what color the cards are supposed so be when you're trying to play. Teaching people what the different color cards do when they can't see the colors is hardly a way to get them excited about the game.

It's really a wonder how something so unrealted to the game could be printed in such a dominating way on every card. Everyone in my group hates this game so much and it's based strictly on the photography and poor design decisions of the deck. With no one to play with, I'm out twenty bucks.

I guess I'll have to use my "Suck It Up" defense card to live down this poor purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horror of horrors, December 2, 2007
This review is from: Beer Money (Toy)
I don't know how good the game is yet because I haven't been able to look at the cards long enough to play it. When I see the goth child wandering through the woods replete with sad poem about the death of flowers contrasted with the word "broken bottle" I become so enraged that I have to put the game down before being able to play. I read in the instructions that the cards are supposed to be different colors, yet in reality are different colors in the same way that purple and violet are different colors.
