Disappointing for my purposes, August 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Atlas of American History (Paperback)
Identified by its title as an atlas of American History, it was disappointing to see the emphasis on 20th Century wars. Fully half of the book was on this. Everything through the colonial period was completed in 36 pages. Where is a great atlas on colonial America?

Excellent coverage in one volume., June 29, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Atlas of American History (Paperback)
From the early explorers to Desert Storm, all the
significant events and movements of American history
are covered, including military conflicts, early railroads,
demographics, presidential elections, slavery, and more.
The over 250 excellent maps and charts are enhanced
by explanatory notes and lengthier essays to tie together
the eras and explain some of the dynamics more fully
than maps alone could.
Highly recommended for the student of history and
the permanent reference shelf of the general reader.

good maps, diagrams, and other imagery...., June 7, 2000
This review is from: Atlas of American History (Paperback)
....but as stated previously, a bit thin on the earlier years and rather military and political. Can be used for purposes of a quick pictorial glance through time.
