5.0 out of 5 stars A great visual catalog of pediatric pearls
A number of my colleagues told me that they used this book almost exclusively to study for the Pediatric Boards. While I'm not sure I would use this as my sole source, there is no doubt that this book is excellent. Although the text is not quite as comprehensive as a major textbook of medicine (like Nelson's, or Oski's), it is very concise and readable. Its major...

3.0 out of 5 stars Textbook style, not for speedy clinical use
I am a new NP and ordered this book to have a good resource for pediatrics. It is a good textbook but isn't concise enough for everyday clinical use. The pictures were helpful but they were all grouped together so it was hard to find the treatment suggestions. Probably a good reference for complicated cases or for students. Not as handy for the practitioner. I'm...

Its major strength is the number and quality of photographs depicting important clinical signs and symptoms, from the common (eczema, tinea capitis), to the rare (incontinentia pigmenti, Williams syndrome, etc.) When I entered my pediatric residency, many of the senior residents told me that this book was highly recommended. They were not mistaken. I recommend this book highly...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have, September 11, 2004
If you need to buy one Pediatric book for pictures, quick reference, and ease in using, it is this one. It is the first place I go when looking up specific pediatric pathology. It's application to general Pediaric is relevant to all facets of my practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny, April 25, 2003

The person who thinks the price of this book is insanity is obviously not a medical professional. Compared to the usual price of a medical text with color illustrations, it's a steal.

This outstanding atlas belongs in every office that provides health care to children. I've used it continuously since the first edition came out when I was in pediatric residency training a dozen years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-Have for anyone in Peds, December 26, 2005
This is undoubtedly a must-have reference for anyone in pediatrics. This has a great collection of color images & is well-organized. The new edition is definitely weightier, but there is more text & more diagrams. Considering the cost, it's probably not worth getting the new edition if you already have the older one. However, if you're buying, buy the new one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Treasure for pediatric residents, July 20, 2005
I became familiar with this book in the 3rd year of my medical school. I used a previous edition to study for USMLE 2. Figures and contents are excellent. Great resource to use in addition to Nelson's. This is a must buy book for every pediatric, med/peds, and family medicine residents.

If you are in the medical profession and looking for a great pediatrics reference atlas, this is it. The photos are incredibly helpful in showing common and less common ailments, and after spending some time studying the atlas at random, I have later been able to make diagnoses because I had seen something similar in this atlas. Extremely user-friendly, and fascinating just to browse. Less useful if you're looking for a specific book on dermatology as that comprises just a portion of this book. This was the top book on my "wish list" when I started looking for medical books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Could not be better, April 26, 2006
This is the finest text a pediatrician can own for daily practice, board brush up and companion to the standard textbooks. It can fill many gaps inherent in the nature of pediatric training and is eminently relevant. If the authors never pen another things, they can be forever proud of this work. Brava.
