This review is from: Atlas of Procedures in Neonatology (MacDonald, Atlas of Procedures in Neonatology) (Hardcover)
This book was on a recommended list for my neonatal nurse practitioner program, it should have been required! I didn't buy it at first, but looked through a friends and couldn't buy it fast enough. It explains procedures well, including contraindications and complications. It also shows x-ray images and great informative images. This is a great book to have as a quick reference for nurses, nurse practitioners, residents and doctors that may need a refresher for things you don't do all the time. For me, it is a great resource that I take with me to clinicals so I can review procedures before doing them.

Wow! This is the ultimate "how to" resource for all neonatal procedures. The explanations are very detailed and written in step-by-step fashion and provide complete lists of all equipment necessary for the specific procedure. Drawings, xrays and diagrams enable the reader to visualize how the procedures are correctly done, and what pitfalls and complications to avoid. Best yet is the fact that the book comes with a DVD demonstrating (on mannequins, not real babies) how the procedures are performed.
This is the perfect manual for teaching residents, fellows and nurses, and to have in your own reference library as a way to remind yourself of specific details when called upon to perform procedures you haven't done in a lengthy period of time. It should be on the shelf of every neonatologist and in every NICU. |
