Fills a much-needed gap,

This review is from: Atlas of Renal Ultrasonography, 1e (Hardcover)
This very nice book is a must-have for any nephrologist, for those in academic careers and also for those in private practice. With very good quality images, this book offers a comprehensive pictorial collection of clinically relevant renal ultrasonography. The text on each chapter is very brief but covers the essentials and cites the most pertinent literature. Consulting this book is always an enjoyable experience. Furthermore, this book is unique in its conception, no other ultrasound book with a nephrology-focused format has ever been published.

An excellent atlas for radiologists, nephrologists, urologists and other interested physicians,

This review is from: Atlas of Renal Ultrasonography, 1e (Hardcover)
As an academic nephrologist I have performed many thousands of kidney ultrasound studies and I am taining nephrology fellows in renal ultrasonography. I had been looking for an ultrasound atlas that focuses on the kidney and urinary tract. There is essentiall no such book available, and Dr. O'Neill's atlas fills this void. The atlas is logically organized, focusing on the sonographic evaluation of the kidney in common medical and surgical renal diseases. Less common, more 'esoteric' disease entities are also covered. I have used the atlas since it became available and have given copies to each of our trainees. Most depicted sonograms are of excellent quality and present disease entities as they are encountered in clinical practice. Overall, this atlas is of exceptional value for the physician and trainee involved with renal ultrasonography and I can only recommend this book highly.

Unfairly priced,
This review is from: Atlas of Renal Ultrasonography, 1e (Hardcover)
Although there remains a paucity of books devoted solely to renal ultrasonography, this text fails to deliver on its educational objective. You'd be better off using a text that offers ultrasounds with better resolutions or an internet-site that allows you to adjust the contrast and scale the images for a better look at the kidneys and other structures. The book simply isn't worth the asking price.

Only a few authors are capable to devote and entire book to renal ultrasound. There is not to much of this out there. I strongly recommend this book to every practioner interested in the field of general ultrasound.
