Product Description

Atlona's VGA to component video breakout adapter is designed to connect component video sources to VGA displays such as ( Video Projectors, HDTV Televisions ) or could also be used to connect VGA sources ( such as Line Doublers, cable boxes, satellite receives, game consol's ) to a component video display. Adapter is bi-directional, therefore signal can either be sent from Component Video to VGA or VGA to Component Video. Manufacturing process employs industrial quality components. Made of High-Purity Oxygen Free Copper (OFC), the conductor has a very high conductivity, low signal loss and degradation and low electric resistance. All of these result in great signal transmission. Superior High-Density triple shielding technology will reject EM and RF interference, while gold plated connectors will ensure a tight grip. Note: This adapter will not work for connecting Computers VGA outputs to Component Video sources, neither Component Video sources to Computer LCD displays. Applications: Atlona's VGA breakout adapter is designed to connect component video sources to VGA displays such as ( Video Projectors, HDTV Televisions ) or could also be used to connect VGA sources ( such as Line Doublers, cable boxes, satellite receives, game consol's and much more ) to a component video display. This adapter is designed to be used with existing VGA cable. Adapter has a SVGA female which can be easily connected to an existing SVGA Cable and transform VGA into 3-RCA component video Cable. I made a mistake when ordering this--this takes a signal from the monitor and sends it to the TV, apparently, because it does not work at all with my Raspberry Pi, even when properly connected with the RGB cable configuration. I like the product and will rate it four stars for what it is designed to do for others, but am writing this as a caution to any Raspberry Pi owners who may be wondering what adapter piece will work for them to simply connect their old CRT or LCD monitor to their Pi.

After looking at a bunch of different adapters, some even more expensive than this one, I was a bit unsettled by the construction on the picture. What arrived is a heavy gauge, well constructed adapter with a kevlar sheath on the vga trunk and breakouts that are very solidly built. The bnc adapters made a tight fit and are of a good heavy construction. One further thing that made me happy is having the correct mating sheath on the female vga connector. This adapter was designed to connect to a male vga cable and someone over there had the prescience to put it in female sockets so you can actually lock your adapter down, something the other manufacturers missed. I am very happy with this purchase.
