best space disco album ever recorded!,
By "funkmosphere" (los angeles, ca.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Atmosphere Strut (Audio CD)
This album is the super bomb! Recorded in 1975, it was way ahead of it`s time. It was originally released on P&P records out of the N.Y.C. and was produced by Patrick Adams, the same talented producer of the soul group Black Ivory and later soulful disco outfits of the late 70`s and early 80`s such as Musique (performers of the controversial "Push, Push In The Bush" disco anthem fom 1978), Phreek, Sine, Venus Dodson, and even the Salsoul Orchestra to name a few. All six tracks are incredible, with the standouts being "Atmosphere Strut", "Disco Juice", and "Dust To Dust" with Adams` emphasis on over the top synthesizer disco/funk arrangements and sounds. If you dug Peter Browns` "A Fantasy Love Affair" album, then you`ll dig this one even more because you can tell the whole vibe of that record was influenced by this Cloud One recording. This album preceded Peter Browns` album by two years and even has Peter Brown listed as an executive producer and co-writer of track two on the album called "Charleston Hopscotch". So for all you real disco/funk heads who think you know what it`s really all about; hold it .... think again. You don`t know what it`s all about until you`ve copped this album and added it to your collection of high quality music purchases. Trust me; you won`t be let down. This really is the real stuff here ya`ll ! Respect to the folks at Hot Productions down in Miami for re-releasing this album on c.d. format and for also knowing what the real stuff is all about. What a relief ! Peace, -funkmosphere(L.A.)

I found this in a New York City record shop--yes, on vinyl-for a good price. I had no idea what it was but just look at the photo. Resistance was futile.
Space Disco. This is not my phrase. Another reviewer used it and it describes Atmosphere Strut to a virtual Techniques 5100. This music is assuredly 1970s disco, but replaces the foot down thump with an airy melodic texture. There are few lead vocals, but over the lightly popping bass there is a silky chorus of backup vocalists. This is not jazz. But listening, it does invoke a more danceable version 1970s funk jazz such as Donald Byrd's Blackbyrd or Bobbie Humphrey's Satin Doll. The difference lies in the emphasis here on pulse, and though this music has a more subtle boom then most of the era's mirror ball fare, there is more than enough beat here to land your shoe on.

best disco tracks ever,

I dance in New York on a regular basis and nothing gets my groove on like this track. I think that cloud one's atmosphere strut epitomizes all that is best about disco.
