I have used the Atom 2600 2 cycle edger for the past 4 years. I am going to order another one to keep in reserve. I would never go back to 'stick' edger. I can walk as fast as I want and the edging looks perfect and with very little effort.

Thanks to whoever dreamed up this way of edging. My Lawn service Buddy cannot belive how easy and effortless to operate.

BTY, I am 76 years old and can edge my 1/2 acre coner lot faster than my Buddy can with his 'stick'..

I have an old Yard Machine, Bolens (?) belt-driven machine that has been a headache for years. The Atom is definitely an improvement with the Honda engine that starts way, way easier and is just plain easier to use and has no belts.

One problem: The HOT air off of the engine, directly at the user, makes it a far better design for a snow blower than a summer time device. I truly did not know that an engine that small could make so much heat. I must have lost 20 pounds after getting blasted with the hot air off the engine while edging. I will be forced by that so-hot air to rig up a diverter to direct the hot cooling air off to the side or up over me. Atom should have identified this problem early on and designed a fix.

I mow lawns on the side after work. I bought this to help me speed up the edging process. I love it.. It works very fast and beats flipping the weed wacker. It does an good job of edging. It will not get the wide "1" space between your walk and lawn like the big pro gas ones. However i waited 4 months to get this thing and it really was worth the wait for me. Its a solid honda motor and start very easy. It has made it one season and i will post future season results. For commercial purposes nothing I have owned is faster or easier. It has only 1 wheel. One wheel is just fine. The others have 3 because they are so heavy. This weighs around 10 pounds so it's easy to carry and transport. There is a depth adjustment. If I hit something hard the blade stops. It would probably be impossible to break the blade it's pretty thick. For really over grown edges you will have to go over it a few times, lowering the depth each pass. The motor is fairly strong and you can't beat a Honda motor. It will not chew through anything you throw at it. At the beginning of the year you do have to take a bit more time and go over the edge a few times. Once you have the edge you want it's a breeze to maintain. I've never replaced a blade but amazon will have it for sure. It looks like a pretty generic blade, it's a square chunk of metal you can easily sharpen it with a grinder. I have had it one year and it runs great still, just broke it out yesterday. It will only cut a 1/4 gap between the grass and cement. If you want a thicker gap the slow big machines are better. With this unit I can edge all around my curbing and whole yard in less than 10 minutes front and back. I really have enjoyed this edger and when it dies I will buy another. Be sure to follow instructions on changing out oil. It will help the motor last forever. Don't leave any gas in it over the winter. Tell you what when I mow next week I will get you a video review. Keep in mind when i say the moter stalls out that mean the blade stops turning, but the moter does not die.

The Atom ATDDLX 4-Stroke lawn edger is the best I have ever used -- powerful and easy to operate. Yes, it is expensive but is well-made and really does the job. I spoke to the U.S. distributor before ordering it through Amazon, and he was friendly, helpful, and seemed honest. We have a Stihl trimmer, but we still like the power and design of the Atom, which gives us an edge.

I purchased the Atom Edger through Amazon. As always, great Amazon service. I've owned this edger for several months now and we've used it at least a dozen times. Easy assembly in less than 20 minutes without any assistance although an extra set of hands may be useful. AS ALWAYS, read the Atom instructions completely before installation and use. The Honda engine does require appropriate maintenance (simple) so read about this carefully (e.g. oil on filter, checking oil, etc). Small, but amazingly powerful and easy/reliable to start. Has never required more than 3 pulls and usually two. Design allows nice carrying handle integrated into the body of unit. Easy to breakdown for small footprint storage during winter months. Simple to perform service for preventive maintenance. 4-Stroke so no hassles (or nasty exhaust) with mixes. My wife often complains about the difficulty in starting pull-type engines but she has no difficulty with the Honda engine on the Atom adger whether warm or cold. We have about 68,800sf of lawn surrounded on two sides with very long driveway, outdoor basketball court, and several serpiginous walk ways interposing. The basketball court has several areas of curved raised curbs. The Atom makes short easy work of it all. Again, my wife does most of the edging. Took about 15 minutes to edge it all even on first outing and less time once it's been edged a couple of times. The auto clutch works great for blade stop if blade binds or when SHE accidentally hits concrete. I would suggest using the wheel on concrete (not yard) while edging. This allows for better depth control. Depth control is completely adjustable by the way but as the instructions suggest, start shallow and go deeper with subsequent edging. I've used edgers since teenage years and hands down this is the best I've ever used. Prior to the Atom, I had been 'edging' with a commercial string trimmer (same brand as Atom engine) that I use for rest of the yard (love this H trimmer for the yard in general). We also have a small cordless string trimmer which my wife uses around garden and her flower beds. The commercial trimmer is very heavy and a bear to use for creating a nice looking edge around concrete. The cordless edger is too impotent for such. The Atom makes it all very easy. Thus far it's been extremely reliable. The US Atom distributor also stands behind this product brand so no worries there. I've communicated with him once to address frequency of gear grease changes and was very impressed with his availability and professionalism. This weekend, I'm planning to use the Atom to create a deep edge around our front flower beds along a serpiginous walkway. After creating the edge, am going to install a metal barrier along the walkway to better keep the mulch in the beds. At some point, will try to get some video in use or post pictures of results. Should make the job a breeze. Highly recommend this Atom edger.

Received my first Atom Edger and I was disappointed. Found broken engine pieces in the shipping box. The thin metal muffler was broken and also the plastic housing near the exhaust. And there was a crack in the air cleaner cover. Very cheap, thin plastic housing for a commercial type edger. Not what I had expected from a Honda engine. Amazon was great! They sent me another Atom Edger in 4 days. I checked this engine over carefully and found the choke lever would flop around and not stay in place. Another thin broken piece of plastic. So I switched the back of air cleaner housing from first Atom that wasn't broken with the second and was able to make a complete machine. It started easily and seems to run well but I havent tried edging with it yet. I will have to very careful with how the Atom is placed in the truck. I don't think the engine housing will take much abuse like the Stihl equipment I use. Amazon sent me return labels for the first machine and I sent it back today. They were very easy to deal with.

This edger is my first one. I have never even used one before so I really cannot compare. This unit is light and easy to use. Has the Honda engine and the direct drive, a huge plus. I did have trouble with the exhaust diverter but one phone call to Atom and the problem was taken care of in a matter of minutes. Atoms customer service is out standing. They are really willing to take care of your needs.

I received, assembled and used this Red edger recently. I previously used a Weedeater edger that stopped working.
PROS:
1. Great Honda engine starts right up and easy to add the gas and oil
2. Shaft driven with shaft encased in a protective housing
3. Large cross blades
4. Easy to use controls and trigger
5. Easy to adjust blade height of cut
CONS:
1. Wheel mechanism with the large blades sometimes drags blade on ground
2. Awkward for tall person to hold handles in low position
3. Cross beam made of plastic instead of steel
4. Blade appears to rattle
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Revise the wheel mechanism
2. Lengthen the steel poles to which the hand grips connect
3. Revise blade mechanism so it does not rattle
4. Make cross beam out of steel

UPDATED AGAIN!!
I received the replacement edger cover for the edger based on my request, and it fit over the engine very well.
Previous engine cover did not have deflector on exhaust; current cover has a deflector.
Deflector will channel exhaust away from edger operator.
VERY easy to replace engine cover with one screw to remove then retighten after new cover is on.
BTW do not blame Seago for that exhaust issue, blame Honda.
If you do a search for "Honda GX-25 engine" and select Images option, the photos will show Honda's GX-25 engine with NO deflector.
Also, you can go to the Honda website for the GX-25 engine, and also see photo of engine with NO deflector.
