Atomic Archive: Enhanced Edition worth waiting for,
By A Customer
This review is from: Atomic Archive: Enhanced Edition (CD-ROM)
I used elements from the original edition to prepare a course on the atomic bomb and was impressed with the number of entries, though some were a bit light. This has been fixed in the enhanced edition, which combines excellent graphics, more through research, and extremely helpful references and links. I believe it could be of use in a library as a reserve reference, or to serve as a basis to illustrate scientific phenomena for non-science students. The selection of archival footage is also very good. The company also has a series of videos well worth considering.

AJ Software & Multimedia Atomic Archive Review,

An excellent publication for teaching and historical accounts. Provides easily undertsandable student information about atomic energy and development in lay terms. Excellent biographies of involved scientists and others involved with plentiful animated viewing aids. Unbiased historical account. Highly recommended.

Atomic Disappointment,

First of all, says works on Mac, but it doesn't say that it does NOT work with OS 10. Also, the "hundreds" of photographs are of extremely low quality and very small. You can find more information and better images online. Sounded good, but for me a waste of money.

This collection ONLY focuses on nuclear weapons and their history through 2001. It does not cover Eisenhower's Atoms for Peace program and that program's evolution into what has become a clean, sustainable, and most of all reliable source of electrical power for most of the developed world. While it's well constructed and simple to navigate, this CD-ROM is a real disappointment to anyone researching a complete and unbiased history of atomic energy.

This is such an excellent production I've recommended it to classes of physics, science, and history in our local school district. Teachers are thrilled about getting such in-depth, accurate information about the atomic age in one place. The photos the author uses are fascinating, and bring the history of the age to life in great detail. The biographies of the major figures are thoroughly-researched and well-written. Again, the author has done his homework! I've been a viewer of the award-winning Atomic Archive website for years, but just recently purchased the CD. It's a great addition.
