This box is intended for a type S Alpine 12. (or similar spec speaker) I have a type R and the air volume of this box is too small for it and the port tuning is wrong. It did not sound very good with a type R. I will give it a thumbs up for the quality construction. I wish I could give a more favorable review. I am not saying this box is bad. It was designed for a type S and I'm sure it would sound great loaded with one judging by the high build quality and specs.
(EDIT 2 WEEKS LATER)The Alpine Type R recommends a 1.9 cubic ft. (ported) box. This is only 1.3. The full range of bass was not heard with my 2010 Type R. I replaced it with this...

More even, linear output with less power-all bass notes come through evenly.

I bought this box with a pioneer Champion Series 12 inch sub woofer and boy i will tell you this thing kicks A $$. it has more than enough cubic feets of air to make the sub i have work and sound flawlessly. (1.3c)

Put this in the back of a 01 Mustang, took some strength to get it in but looks good now.
Works well, product was sturdy, and worth what I paid.

This is the first pre-fab subwoofer box I've ever used and I'm impressed with its quality. Atrend uses some decent quality materials and tunes the box to make a 12" sub hit very, very hard. As for the other reviews that mention a glue smell when the box gets warm, I can't say that I've noticed anything at all even after hours of operation. If you don't have the time, money or inclination to build your own sub box, this is a very welcome alternative.

Very well built. Every edge has been sound proofed. The ported vent is amazing. I had issues fitting this module in my trunk because it is so large though. Verify that you have space before you purchase.

I am so pleased with this box !!! i have it connect to an alpine "R" series that pounds about 800 rms .
This box is seriously thick and the wood is grade A .
Shipping was fast and overall if i had to i would get this one again!
My other encloser had broke into pieces with my sub in it ... therefore i would just pay a little more and get alot more .
And i dont know how the other guy broke 4 screws i put in 8 on my first try ... maybe buy better screws.

12" x 12" x 12" is one qubic foot you Idio......'s the one who wrote .2 is an absolute ...........
alpine R series calls for 1.00min to 2.00max cubic feet!!!!!
this box certainly fits the criteria -------- all bright minds out there that can't set up your system DON'T blame your ignorance on the BOX even if you count the basket and magnet dicplacement you are still about 2 cubic feet of space and might i add that the port count as volume!!!!!!

even counting walls @ 2 inches --- total volume in square inches is 4320 that is 2.5 feet then even if type R basket + magnet displacement was .5 cubic feet (wich is NOT)
you would still have 2.0 feet of volume ---- witch i might add is max volume recommended for this perticular drive.

having said that this box is definately good for RRRRR series and many more
if you dont know what you are talking about then say nothing at all because you apear to have neuron deficiency in the good old brain bucket
(or perhaps you have been listening loud music way to long and your computing capacity has deminished because of it!!!!) o offence to the bass heads with high inteligence IQ

Shipped and recieved when promised. Recieved boxes already assembled which was nice. If you buy from best buy you have to assemble yourself. Great price and well built. Great product.

I installed this in my car...immediately I heard bad distortion and thought my subwoofer was blown or new amp was bad. But after 2 minute inspection I found the noise was from a gap in the port. If I put my finger over the gap it sounded good, so for now I uninstalled the woofer, and gobbled silicone on the inside to fill that gap. The rest of the box looks good for the money I spent. Had I chance to do it all over again I would have purchased a better box. That distortion sound sounded like a horrible vibration. Such a well built box with 1 major flaw. I have Nearly 20 years of car audio installation experience. From high end to mid level.

The box itself its a good product except for the fact when i got it, the carpeting was tore and had a few dents and cracks. The box looks bigger in person compared to the picture in my opinion. other than those few minor flaws it looks great and is well made
