Editorial Reviews

Review

From the reviews:

"The use of ablation in the treatment of atrial fibrillation has captured the greatest attention in journals and at national meetings, and it is a major focus of this book. … I congratulate the editors for a timely and important book. … this book may appeal primarily to the interventional clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, it would be a worthwhile investment for the surgeon, internist, or cardiologist with an interest in this rapidly evolving and important topic." (Richard L. Page, The New England Journal of Medicine, September, 2008)

"This comprehensive review of atrial fibrillation focuses on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, latest technologies, indications for treatment, and treatment. … is an excellent source of knowledge for clinicians and researchers in various specialties such as cardiology, cardiac surgery, internal medicine, and other allied medical professions, who will be involved in the care of these patients. … This timely book, written by eminent authors, provides a state-of-the-art review of atrial fibrillation." (Carlos D Giraldo, Doody’s Review Service, July, 2008)

This review is from: Atrial Fibrillation: From Bench to Bedside (Contemporary Cardiology) (Hardcover)
Two years ago I found out that I was suffering from atrial fibrillation. To learn more about it I bought this book. After reading it cover to cover (twice!), I had a very good understanding of what I was up against. That knowledge helped me discuss options with my cardiologist and choose a course of treatment. If you want an excellent summary, buy this book, it's a clear, concise, and comprehensive review of atrial fibrillation. Today my afib is gone and life is good.

This review is from: Atrial Fibrillation: From Bench to Bedside (Contemporary Cardiology) (Hardcover)
And the complications kept on coming, each one unexpected, each one unprecedented. There were our cases of "gastric hypomotility and pyloric spasm" reported. The victims suffered terrible bloating of their stomach and vicious bouts vomiting because their stomachs had become permanently paralyzed.

"Just another risk to put on the consent form," said Hugh Calkins.
