From the Manufacturer
The studio sound quality and unmatched bass response of the Atrio Pro has an ergonomic "stay-in ear" design with background noise isolation. Dedicated to saving your hearing and saving the planet, the Atrio Pro promotes safer hearing with highly-efficient, big sound at lower volumes which provides amazing sound clarity at safe and healthy volume levels. Also, all Atrio packaging is fully RoHS compliant.
Atrio Pro earphones are the result of extensive research and development with today's top musicians, engineers, producers, and audiophiles. Future Sonics is used on tour with the biggest names in music, from Lady Gaga and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, to REM and U2. Powered by Future Sonic's proprietary MG7 "miniature loudspeaker" 10mm dynamic drivers, the Atrio Pro delivers all the elements of sound the way your own ears would hear naturally, and more like the artist originally intended.
MG7 Drivers for Big Sound in a Small Package
Atrio's 25 years of experience in professional and high-end audio brings you advanced sound reproduction in an ultra-lightweight earphone design. The Atrio's proprietary 10mm dynamic driver, the MG7 "miniature loudspeaker", offers more advanced sound delivery than armature-based earbuds at twice the price. This highly efficient driver delivers bigger sound at lower volumes with stunning bass response--protecting your hearing while listening to studio-quality sound.
Atrio Pro's lightweight housing weighs less than 4 ounces, with an ergonomic "stay-in-ear" design that's great for jogging, walking, working out, and activities where you need earbuds to stay in your ear. Atrio Pro uses proprietary QuietCables II technology that reduces microphonics--annoying noise generated by the earphone cable rubbing against clothing and other surfaces. Superior background noise isolation makes listening to your favorite tunes like hearing live music in a professional studio.
Each pair also includes a Passchal designer carrying case made from recycled tires.
What's in the Box
Included in your purchase are Atrio Pro earphones, 16 Comfort Fit foam sleeves (2x Large, 2x Medium, 2x Small), 6 Earfills silicone sleeves (S, M, L), Passchal designer carrying case, loop cleaning tool, and user manual.
What Critics Are Saying About Atrio Pro Earphones
"It's really their impressive bass response - even at low volumes - that kept us coming back. The Atrios are comfortable for extended wear, and their treble is crisp and clean, without fatiguing after listening for long periods."
--MacLife (Winner, "Earbud of the Year")
"While offering superior sound quality, the Atrio is exceptionally built...you can be confident your purchase is of the highest quality."

The unboxing experience is pleasant, with the MG7s coming in an "eco-packaging" cardboard egg carton. (The "eco" tag seems to be a very shallow marketing gimmick rather than a real attempt to reduce environmental impact, since the headphones are still encased in hard plastic and the packaging is much larger than it needs to be; and the "recycled" rubber-adorned carrying case is heavy and bad-smelling compared to other manufacturers' tidy cases.) The MG7s come with the usual assortment of sizes of rubber earpiece and also a bunch of foam earplug tips. Though I usually stick with the default medium size, I found I needed to move up to the large rubber caps to achieve a good seal, and the rubber is still a bit more slippery than the average in-ear phone -- large-eared customers, beware. Also, the box includes no ear hooks or other provisions for routing the earphone wires over the ear instead of straight down -- making the MG7 more prone to falling out than other models. More importantly, the actual earphones' build quality is quite unimpressive: they feel a bit cheap and toylike, the plastic is quite ugly, and the cables and connectors are fairly flimsy. The whole ensemble does not inspire confidence in the product's longevity, and its short warranty is no more reassuring.
But really, when buying earphones, the sound is the most important thing. And the MG7s provide a pleasant listening experience, with much fuller bass than cheaper models, but the sound quality is not in any way a standout.Read more ›
I've had a chance to hear these for two weeks now. I'm happy to give a complete overview so you can decide whether Atrios are right for you.
The packaging: Future Sonics has moved to using much more eco-friendly materials. They have a new case for the earphones which is made from recycled tire rubber (and looks great). They've done a good job and I hope other companies follow their lead.
On to appearance. It's easy to judge a picture, but often what looks good on a computer screen looks horrible sticking out of your ears. In the ears, the Atrios look good--not too attention grabbing, but their curved design adds a touch of style. They come in several colors, the red is most eye-catching, if you want that.
Fit: Atrios are made from a high-strength, low weight plastic. They are light and easily stay in the ear, even seeming to disappear. There are small, medium and large bi-flange silicon eartips and two sizes of foam tips as well. Getting a good seal is essential to getting good sound. Future Sonics gives a reasonable selection of eartips, but some other companies give more and better eartip options.
One nice thing about the Atrios' design is that they can easily be worn cable down, or over-the-ear.
Cable: On earphones, the cable is the most-likely part to fail. How do the Atrios do? Pretty well, I'd say. The cable has a sturdy right-angle plug with good strain-relief and good integrated strain relief at the housing of the earphone. The cable itself is light.Read more ›
The sound quality is nice. I like the sound from my stock headphones, which came with my iPhone 4 more than the sound from the Atrio - having switched back and forth multiple times at multiple levels trying to be "wowed" by the Atrio buds, and I am unable to justify a superior classification. The clarity is fine. The sound is smaller; I must increase volume to match the punch I get from my stock set.
The earphones are of good quality; only a tiny blemish in color consistency and a couple of tiny dots of plastic manufacturing boogers where the chocolate edge meets the black ring on one of them.
The ear-shaped case is outstanding. It has branded dual zippers. The almost leather-looking reclaimed inner tube rubber is beautiful - not to mention a good way to use old inner tubes - and guarantees unique product individuality. The stitching and embellishments are nice, too. The lined interior has dual mesh pockets to keep things in place.
I like them, but I think they are expensive. I could suggest the product for those who like to coordinate colored earphones with their outfit and such. If your main consideration were value, I would say you're only paying for the fashion aspect.
