Attack of the Movies 3D

Synopsis
In Attack of the Movies 3D, players take on the role of the hero in their favorite action film by battling through six 3D movie-themed worlds! Using genre-based weapons within each scene, players fight off attacking enemies including zombies, robots, giant insects and more. Attack of the Movies 3D comes packaged ready for action with four pairs of 3D glasses to support multiplayer mode. Players can defeat enemies with the help of up to three friends while still competing to see who achieves the highest score, or play in single player mode and fight alone. Additionally, branching paths and changing enemy attack patterns ensure that – unlike the real movies – players will never fight the same battle twice.

Features:

  • The creatures and backgrounds come to life in all their glory, providing amazing dimensionality previously found only in movie theaters.
  • 3D glasses included in the box! Four pairs of 3-D glasses let the whole family enjoy the action!
  • 6 action-packed scenes! Each level is movie-themed and puts you in the heat of battle. Defeat large alien space cruisers in Cosmic Combat, join the resistance against the machines, destroy the machine mainframe in Robot Rebellion, and more!
  • 4-Player Multiplayer! Features arcade-style multiplayer gameplay for up to four players. Players cooperate to get past challenges while still competing for the highest score.
  • Exotic weaponry! In each level, you are provided with three ultimate weapons to use against the enemies of that genre. You’ll have access to the quintessential zombie-slaying shotgun in the horror level while using the automatic laser cannon in the science fiction level, and much more!

Product Description

Attack of the Movies 3D is a game in which up to four "players become an integral part of movie scenes they can typically only watch." The shooter game will offer multiple paths through each level, varied enemy attack patterns, environmental challenges and "unique areas" for players to experience. Attack of the Movies 3D's six explorable movie-themed worlds have players engage in space battles vs. aliens, "join the resistance against the machines," and shoot underwater monsters. "Genre-based ultimate weapons" like laser cannons and "zombie-slaying shotguns" will be at players' disposal.

1.0 out of 5 stars A light gun game....without the light gun., June 2, 2010
By
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Attack Of The Movies 3-D (Video Game)
This game is hands down one of the worst shooters I've ever played. Imagine a "rail shooter" in the arcades like House of the Dead or Time Crisis and you'll have some idea of what to expect here. Much like those games, you won't be able to control the movement of your character, so you'll automatically move from place to place. Along the "rails", you'll be expected to shoot any targets you see, but there's no strategy invovled. Die, and you'll face the exact same path again, with the same targets in the same places.

In the middle of a battle, the camera will often spin in 180 degree turns to "shock" you by throwing another target in front of you. When you're in an arcade (or on a console with a light gun), this sort of "twitch" game can be fun. In light gun games, you aim a real gun at the screen, shoot characters, reload...rinse repeat. Unfortunately, this game has no light gun....so you do all of this with the standard controller. The action in this game is sort of like being stuck in the Warthog turret in a game of Halo with a crazy driver who has never played the game before....except it's a lot less fun than that would be.

In Attack of the Movies 3D, you aim your gun with the thumbsticks, and the right one seems to work better than the left. Turning your controller upside down helps a bit with this I suppose, but why would you want to play a game that requires that? Needless to say, aiming is difficult, and the thumbsticks are no substitute for a real light gun. The "3D" levels are a joke (it's the old cardboard red and blue glasses and I thought the game looked better without them). Speaking of the graphics, this looks like a PS2 game...or maybe something for the Wii. Don't waste your money on this game, unless you are morbidly curious to see what one of the worst shooters of all time will feel like. Even if that's the case....try to find a rental copy, because after 15 minutes, you'll want to return it.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Average B-Game, Worth an Evening or Two at Most, November 28, 2011

I got this game for a pretty low price, and I knew exactly what I was. If you go into things expecting a great, high quality, fun game, then you'll be disappointed. If Halo, Call of Duty, Skyrim, etc are the "steaks" of video games, the fill course meals, then Attack Of The Movies 3-D is the SPAM. But sometimes a little cheap dish of SPAM is nice after eating steak every night for a year.

The gameplay is hard because you have to use joysticks, not any sort of lightgun. There is no online co-op. And the single player is quickly beaten, but ridiculously hard to master on the highest difficulties. If you can get it down, though, you'll find yourself with an easy 1000 Gamerscore, if that matters to you.

If you play this expecting a steak, you'll be disappointed. But if you play this with lowered expectations, you may find some enjoyment.

Graphics - 3/5
Sound -3/5
Fun - 3/5
Re-playability - 4/5

1.0 out of 5 stars Aweful game, May 30, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Attack Of The Movies 3-D (Video Game)
I am a big fan of shooters and this really is an aweful shooter.
First, There are no tutorials. It has you decide the level of difficulty and immediatly has you playing the first level. There is no way to accustom yourself to the controls or gameplay.
There is no control for movement. The game forces you in stationary position, taking damage and all you can do is frantically move your crosshairs back and forth across the screen in hopes you will pass it over your target. The crosshairs move very fast and you frequently pass your target without hitting it. There is NO target locking system. As you move the crosshair across the screen to the left, it bounces back on it's own, altering your aim. They could have fixed this with a quick-flick style locking/targeting option.
There are boxes and items to shoot for health and weapons upgrades but the auto-camera moves your view around for you and frequently takes you out of the area the upgrade or health was, while at the same time sends swarms of monsters at you, damaging you.
This is why shooters should not be played on a console. With a mouse, on a PC it would have been much easier to aim and stay alive. Even on the easy level, it was frustrating and not a lot of fun.
As for the graphics, for the 360 I expected them to be better. It was not up to the standard I would have expected.
Plot..What plot. There is no story or narator to explain why this is hapening and this would have made the game more enjoyable.
