A light gun game....without the light gun.,

This game is hands down one of the worst shooters I've ever played. Imagine a "rail shooter" in the arcades like House of the Dead or Time Crisis and you'll have some idea of what to expect here. Much like those games, you won't be able to control the movement of your character, so you'll automatically move from place to place. Along the "rails", you'll be expected to shoot any targets you see, but there's no strategy invovled. Die, and you'll face the exact same path again, with the same targets in the same places. In the middle of a battle, the camera will often spin in 180 degree turns to "shock" you by throwing another target in front of you. When you're in an arcade (or on a console with a light gun), this sort of "twitch" game can be fun. In light gun games, you aim a real gun at the screen, shoot characters, reload...rinse repeat. Unfortunately, this game has no light gun....so you do all of this with the standard controller. The action in this game is sort of like being stuck in the Warthog turret in a game of Halo with a crazy driver who has never played the game before....except it's a lot less fun than that would be. In Attack of the Movies 3D, you aim your gun with the thumbsticks, and the right one seems to work better than the left. Turning your controller upside down helps a bit with this I suppose, but why would you want to play a game that requires that? Needless to say, aiming is difficult, and the thumbsticks are no substitute for a real light gun. The "3D" levels are a joke (it's the old cardboard red and blue glasses and I thought the game looked better without them). Speaking of the graphics, this looks like a PS2 game...or maybe something for the Wii. Don't waste your money on this game, unless you are morbidly curious to see what one of the worst shooters of all time will feel like. Even if that's the case....try to find a rental copy, because after 15 minutes, you'll want to return it.

I am a big fan of shooters and this really is an aweful shooter.First, There are no tutorials. It has you decide the level of difficulty and immediatly has you playing the first level. There is no way to accustom yourself to the controls or gameplay. There is no control for movement. The game forces you in stationary position, taking damage and all you can do is frantically move your crosshairs back and forth across the screen in hopes you will pass it over your target. The crosshairs move very fast and you frequently pass your target without hitting it. There is NO target locking system. As you move the crosshair across the screen to the left, it bounces back on it's own, altering your aim. They could have fixed this with a quick-flick style locking/targeting option. There are boxes and items to shoot for health and weapons upgrades but the auto-camera moves your view around for you and frequently takes you out of the area the upgrade or health was, while at the same time sends swarms of monsters at you, damaging you. This is why shooters should not be played on a console. With a mouse, on a PC it would have been much easier to aim and stay alive. Even on the easy level, it was frustrating and not a lot of fun. As for the graphics, for the 360 I expected them to be better. It was not up to the standard I would have expected. Plot..What plot. There is no story or narator to explain why this is hapening and this would have made the game more enjoyable.

My collection of 360 games now ranks near 275 games and this has to be the worst or close to it. There is a primary game play element in shooters called friction. This is the function of having the cursor slow down or stop on a target. This game lacks that. The cursor flies across the screen as the camera shakes violently. Having played the first level several times on easy to be able to beat it I knew this wasn't going to be a good experience. Believe it or not a great tactic is to not shoot targets as the less you kill the less pop up. If in a rail shooter not shooting is the dominant strategy you know the game is broken. I paid $6 shipped and it comes with four pair of glasses and still this game is a rip off. Even the achievements are bunk. I dare you to tackle this game on difficult and show me the achy complete screen shot. Total waste!

I got this game for a pretty low price, and I knew exactly what I was. If you go into things expecting a great, high quality, fun game, then you'll be disappointed. If Halo, Call of Duty, Skyrim, etc are the "steaks" of video games, the fill course meals, then Attack Of The Movies 3-D is the SPAM. But sometimes a little cheap dish of SPAM is nice after eating steak every night for a year. The gameplay is hard because you have to use joysticks, not any sort of lightgun. There is no online co-op. And the single player is quickly beaten, but ridiculously hard to master on the highest difficulties. If you can get it down, though, you'll find yourself with an easy 1000 Gamerscore, if that matters to you. If you play this expecting a steak, you'll be disappointed. But if you play this with lowered expectations, you may find some enjoyment. Graphics - 3/5 Sound -3/5 Fun - 3/5 Re-playability - 4/5

Unlike most of you I don't follow the crowd. I don't hate just for the sake of hating. I enjoy this game for many reasons. The box art is awesome, nice and 3D. It comes with 4 pairs of glasses. It's cheap so we can buy it and play it around release, while it's recent. After the first level, the game just gets awesome. First level is hard, after that it's smooth sailing. Decent graphics to boot. I don't need me no light gun on 360, I gots me a Wii with Perfect Shot, and I will have Move. Get this game everyone, because it had a very low print run and is going to be rare and worth a lot of money soon.

A unique & fun shootem-up game experience,

This game is an action-packed shootem-up 3D game. I paid $19.99. It's a bargain for the price, especially since the 3d effects seem so real. Some enemies will seem to jump out right out the TV screen . You are immersed into 6 movie-theme worlds, from the likes of Indiana Jones to The Terminator, and basically you shoot every enemy in your path and whatever they shoot at you. Along the way you get to pick up items such as health, bonuses, extra lives & stronger weapons. In order to move on to the next level (or theme-world), you will need to unlock it. For instance, Attack of the Insects is the only thing you can play at first. In order for you to unlock the next world, which looks like Star Wars, you need to defeat the scorpion boss in the insect world. The great part is that you can have a friend come join in on the action if you have an extra controller. Up to 4 player can join in.Now, this game takes a little practice before you get the hang of it and I suggest you select the easy level at first. I had trouble aiming, since you are required to use the joystick on the Xbox. The controller of choice for me would had been a computer mouse. I guess a lot of people who gave the game a bad review were frustrated over this. But in a short time, I found a way of grabbing the joystick a certain way & it made easier to aim. This is about the only drawback to the game, but the fact that you are getting an elaborated 3d game with wonderful musical scores from the related theme movies for $19.99 makes it a must have. |
