Editorial Reviews

Flash-back to the late 1950's when rock music was becoming the single most infectious phenomenon the world had ever seen. The people at the forefront of this era were the ones who had something inherently special and unique to bring to music. Flash forward to the present and the same is still true, but rock music is now an aggressive match of 'king of the hill', where the only ones standing out are the ones who have the capacity to re-invent rock. Attack Attack! is that band. On their sophomore effort, Attack Attack! continue their furious path upwards to the top of the hill, blending the most extreme elements of metal and pop to conjure up what can only be categorized as a new genre all together. Having sold an impressive 75,000+ albums in the States, Attack Attack! stand as the kings of this ground-breaking new age of music, establishing a legacy that will soon spread around the world.

After I seen the "Smokahontas" video on MTV2 I was immediately intrigued with this band. Call me a sheep, a lame brained sell-out, whatever. There are some sick metal riffs on this CD, combined with rave-pop style dance beats. Also, the vocals are very good and you can understand the lyrics. You get more growl than screamo and the singers can sing some fine harmony also.

Sometimes when it seems that all the metal you hear sounds the same, it's nice to give something different a listen. Even if you hate dance club music, as I do, you may like this CD. Not to mention "Smokahotas" again, but the intro and outro riffs in that song are uber-heavy and sound awesome when played loud through your car stereo.

There are some songs I don't care for, like "Fumbles O'Brian". The beginning is very annoying! To make up for it, there is "AC-130", a song I would put up against anything headbanging. Just like any other CD I own... some songs I love, like, think are O.K., and/or hate!

To all the "real hardcore metal heads" out there, feel free to rip on me and tell me how lame I am. Take care everyone and godspeed...

5.0 out of 5 stars The guiltiest of pleasures February 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD
If you've yet to hear any of this band's music, you should be warned that it is as eclectic as it gets and wonderfully unpredictable. The two largest running musical themes with this album are metal and techno-pop. And they switch effortlessly between the two. If you can fully appreciate the many genres of music you'll find here, then you're going to be addicted to this cd the way I am. And I can understand how people could easily not get what makes this album an amazing experience. But if you're open to music that goes anywhere then you will love this album. There's not a track here that I skip over while listening. Preview some of it. And if you like what you hear, do not hesitate purchasing. The musicianship is top notch.

2.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT buy from this seller November 18, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
this is actually one of my favorite bands but the seller is terrible!! i got the cd and the case was dirty and cracked all over, the cd its self was dirty and the booklet thing on the inside was ripped! its a good band, if you like metal core with an electronic twist, just all around fun to listen to. This only gets two stars from me because the seller is crap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good T-shirts too (for the teens in your life!) February 7, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Well, if you just LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE screamo .. or is it scream-o? Well, I don't know, but whichever it is, our 14 y.o. son just HAAAAD to have this CD! As well as the other Attack, Attack CD, which is called Someday Came Suddenly - the link is below! (I keep starting to type album - so I think that dates me!)

Attack, Attack is catagorized as "screamo", but I think it has a nice blend of techno in it to call it pure scream. If you listen to the blurbs on Amazon, you'd have no idea this would be catagorized as screamo - for those of us who are uninitiated! I'm not exactly the right age for screamo, but to tell the truth, this particular band is good, and if you're thinking OMG, what's screamo? You might think it must be like the "punk" of our day, but it's really not as bad as some might think! Of course, like anything else, there are degrees of screamo, and if someone wanted to check screamo out, Attack, Attack might be a good jumping off point! LOL
Someday Came Suddenly

I'd say it's to rock, what our generation had in heavy metal. This is kind of this generations heavy metal with techno mixed in, and the vocals are easy on the ear.
Our son likes the song ... (or at least the title of the song) Sexual Man Chocolate! LOL Oh, he's so funny! : )

Similar bands are: I Set My Friends on Fire, and I See Stars. I'm not exactly on top of this genre, but I do like what our kids listen to, and like to listen to many different types of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars love this album July 6, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I don't like writing reviews, but because of the lack of positive ones here, I have to write. I think this album is awesome. The lead singer has an incredible voice, and the electronica and beats and metal sound really make this something to listen to when you just need a lift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting July 1, 2010
Format:Audio CD
It's interesting to see all of the negative reviews. Everyone deserves their opinion. This one came and smacked me out of nowhere. I think it is an outstanding second effort, much better than SCS. Peace....

2.0 out of 5 stars Wow, what happened June 26, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Ok, to start of someday came suddenly, although not the most technical album ever, was a very fun one. Now a couple years later we get an album by a band that really shouldve changed they're name. I was so dissapointed by this release, although much more heavy than the previous one it lacks even more substance (if even possible) than scs. Now on to the the almost complete lack of techno or anything of the sort and the bits of techno seem very forced and and just kinda akward so in short just dont by this cd, its pretty terrible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah Haha.... June 22, 2010
Format:Audio CD
This band does have more potential than this release. I was surprised this record out beat Whitechapel's A New Era of Corruption on The Billboard 200 Charts. This album is a mix of things, but I don't know if it's the right mix. To me this album is all over the map. There is a few good songs on this album. There is songs I would of left off this album, or have done them better than they are. I would name songs, but why? You should know what I am talking about if you have really listened to this album.

The only thing this band will ever be remembered for is for the crab stance they used to do a long time ago, not the music itself. Read more
