For Beginners Only,
By A Customer
This review is from: Attention to Detail: A Woman's Guide to Professional Appearance and Conduct (Paperback)
When I came across this book on your site, I decided to order it. It sounded like it could give me some further insight into career dressing. The title "Attention to Detail" made me think that while I had the basics of career dressing down, I might be missing some important DETAILS. (I have been in the business world for about 8 years now, and am always interested in improving myself.) I was pretty disappointed by this book. While it could be helpful for a high school senior, or possibly even a college senior, most of the information was common sense, or redundant from other sources. My trusty copy of "Color Me Beautiful", which I think was a gift from my aunt on my 13th birthday, provides MUCH more thorough and comprehensive information than this book. The authors don't even follow their own advice - they recommend black, navy, charcoal & taupe for suit colors, but the female author is photographed on the back wearing a lavender suit. I think $12.95 for this book is too expensive - they didn't even have photographs, just drawings. They also didn't discuss a subject which (I think) should be in this sort of book - makeup! It's common knowledge that a completely professional appearance can be undermined by heavy or trendy makeup, but it was never even mentioned, although nails were.To sum up, this book is really too basic for anyone who has actually ever had a job in the business world. It's an okay (though incomplete) starter book.

If You're a Woman in Business You Need this Book,

It's about time! We women think we have it all wrapped up when it comes to fashion, but what's up with all the "fashion don'ts" you see in every office? I loved this book, it gave me so many great tips and advice. Let's face it, women in business are still a relatively new phenomenon. This guide helps you learn how the rules of the game are played. It's not just the right brief case, it's also the right way to act in a meeting, how to shake hands with a new colleague (so many women do that awful "dead fish" thing). I'm glad I'm "in the know" now and I've recommended Greenleaf's guide to other women friends-- they'll have to buy their own copy though, I won't lend this one out.

Luckily, I checked this out from the library rather than purchasing it. This very thin, very basic booklet is more like somthing I would expect to get free as a promotional item, not something I would pay $12.95 for.
If you've ever been in the workforce, or your mother taught you anything about how to dress and act, you don't need this book.

Even Better than the Mans!,
This review is from: Attention to Detail: A Woman's Guide to Professional Appearance and Conduct (Paperback)
I got the man's version for my son and then heard about this one. It's even better! The advice is great for a young woman and explains how the business world actually works. I just wish I had a daughter to give this to - my son's girlfriend loves it.

I bought this book, thinking the same as another reviewer, that it would be about DETAILS, not basic stuff. I was extremely disappointed. This is good for high school students or a high school guidance office, but it's not useful for someone who is starting out of college with a professional career. A MUCH better choice would be The New Women's Dress For Success, by Molloy.
This book was extremely thin, 64 pages, and overpriced. I paid much less for a different book that was MUCH more informative and helpful.

I went to a book signing with my husband last night where we bought the book and met the authors. I watch Stefani every morning on TV and bought the man's version of this book for my son last year. We bought this for my daughter who graduates in the spring. This book is great - it tells you what you need to know in a short and easy format. I highly recommend it!

Great gift for women!,

I got the men's version of this for my son and decided that my daughter could also use some good professional advice. This book is great and is just as helpful as the one for guys. My wife even approves of the fashion advice in here!

I bought the men's version of this book for my son last year and he enjoyed it. Then I heard about this one and got it for my daughter. It's fantastic! I have tried my best to teach them how the business world works, but it is much easier if they can read it in a book. I think it is a great source.

This "pamphlet" might have been helpful to my mother 20 years ago but definitely not for a young woman in todays world.

This is the kind of book that everyone needs to read. Everyone in my office has a copy of the mens or women's guide and we use it all the time. I love the tips on interviewing and resumes.
