I've spent 10 years in online marketing, and have helped my clients generate millions of dollars in revenue. I purchased a copy of this book through Amazon to see if it offered any new ideas.

What I appreciate most about this book is that the author did a tremendous amount of research into attention-getting marketing techniques. There are countless case studies, plus a few exclusive interviews with successful business owners.

Unfortunately, I found the book to be very light on practical ways to generate attention for an online business. While there are a few useful marketing tips, most of them are sales psychology 101, and have already been discussed in a number of other books on the subject.

What should have been the best chapter - 26 Ways to Generate Killer Ideas - was honestly a big disappointment. The author suggests things like climbing stairs to get your brain going, doodling on paper, taking a shower, listening to music, and even wearing a silly hat to establish a routine for coming up with business ideas.

As far as fun and inspirational reading goes, I couldn't have asked for a better book. I have yet to come across a similar work with as many case studies and examples as this one. The problem is that even though it encourages the reader to think outside of the box, the book rarely offers practical methods for coming up with killer ideas.

So while I don't think the book would offer any new ideas to experienced internet marketers, I'm still glad that I bought it. It's a fun read that shows you what's possible in business when you think outside of the box.

Maybe i don't get it, but in my opinion - author's style of writing is not suitable for mature, educated, intelligent audience. The information in the book lacks more details, elaboration and weight. He extends every topic in the book with meaningless frases, silly comments and nowhere-going leads. He gives poor examples, which are more like persuasive tries to make reader believe of some truth the author is talking about. There's so much overhyped encouragement in the book that you can't even read it! It's too annoying! Also, why do you make(not write) a 300 page book when every other page is a blank one? It takes 18 pages to get to the first paragraph! Yes, 18. That and other things just shows the quality of this book.
I'm very surprised of the rating of this book. It's not the worst one, but I wouldn't give it to serious, determined individual wanting to learn about entrepreneurship.

I really expected this book to be a feel good, point your finger to your head and believe in your self garbage, it wasn't at all. I've read many business books (or listened), and this one definitely is at the top of my list for social and internet marketing. It's full of very practical advice with examples and stories that you can act on right away. I'm definitely going to read this one again soon. The Author even reaches out to you in this book and asks you to email him if you need help. Within an hour he emailed me back on a Sunday! I've never seen an author do anything like that.

I received my copy yesterday (Aug 3) and I am 62 pages in. I've already begun implementing Jim's suggestions as I prepare to brand myself and enter the world of real estate. As a chamber of commerce executive director (ie "attention getter/marketer"), I've read ideas in this book that I have already had success with (i.e.: Jim is credible!), and I've discovered many useful nuggets I will be using to grow and develop my personal real estate brand, and our chamber of commerce brand.

Buy this book, dig in and put these ideas to work. Jim's collection of ideas and practices is relevant, real-time, and real-world applicable. His approach to dealing with the media is spot on, I've had the exact same experiences. Keep in mind, I am only 62 pages in, and had to take a moment to let you all know what I think already!

If you're starting, tweeking, growing, or selling a business, this book is a must for understanding how to get your message out there quickly and effectively!

I just downloaded this book (Kindle version) today and let me say, it's been hard to put it down. Jim's conversational writing style mixed with literally hundreds of case studies make Attention! a must-read.

I loved reading all the stories of wacky, crazy, outlandish things people have done to get attention. From huge marketing heavyweights to small marketers who have made a name for themselves in their niche, Jim has included case studies that will resonate with anyone.

Just finished listening to it for the 2nd time on my Kindle (it's a text to voice enabled book so those long commutes become productive). I was amazed how much I missed the first time through. This is one you will need to read several times if you want to get everything Jim teaches. Not that his presentation lacked anything...quite the opposite. Reading it is like trying to take the proverbial drink from a fire hydrant.
