Editorial Reviews

After crashing onto the rock scene on the back of their debut album From Them, Through Us, To You - Madina Lake has spent the last two years on the road. Travelling across the US
numerous times and tearing up stages in the UK and beyond, the band took its first break in two years to make the follow-up album Attics To Eden. Teamed with producer David Bendeth (Paramore, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) the band has created an album that takes steps in
maturity, melody and more. Led by the first single and video 'Never Take Us Alive' the album's 12 songs show a maturity and new sense of excitement that the band's time on the road has created. The band has wasted no time after recording and has already hit the road with trips to
the UK, Australia and Japan planned as well as The Warped Tour this summer.

This album is everything you would expect from Madina Lake.

I found out about this band shortly after their first album (FT,TU,TY) came out, and instantly fell in love, so when this album came out, I got it right away!

Its still an album I listen to, to get in a good mood because of the more dancier songs on this album than the previous.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." While this album has definitive high points, it also has its low points. Each band member has progressed musically - the bass is much stronger, the guitarist is taking risks that most alternative rock guitarists wouldn't dare try, the singer is hitting high notes that would floor even trained pop singers, and the drummer is playing with a renewed ferocity. However, it seems as though they've all progressed in different directions at times. Some of the songs just don't gel. It was a general consensus on online fan forums that the first song revealed, "Never Walk Alone", was a cause for concern. However, despite a few subpar songs, the singles, as well as several other songs on the album, were excellent, danceable, catchy, and thought-provoking. "Welcome to Oblivion", generally thought of as the best song on the album, has been selected for the third single, following "Never Take Us Alive" and the UK single "Let's Get Outta Here". All in all, the album was worth the $12 or so I paid for it at Wal-Mart, and remains one of my favorite CDs, constantly in my CD player.

Attics To Eden is a brilliant album. It's not as dark as From Them, Through Us, To You it has a slightly more mainstream sound but that's not to say it doesn't still rock. It is essentially Madina Lake, `Never Walk Alone' has a fantastic drum beat and intro, `Welcome To Oblivion' is a song that everybody can relate to at some point in their lives. The slower songs like `Through The Pain' and `Friends and Lovers' are thought provokers, where as songs like, `Legends' `Never Take us Alive' and `Let's Get Outta Here' are songs you can get up and dance to.

It is an awesome album that old Madina Lake fans will love and will gain Madina Lake new fans in the process.

Every second of this album is absolute brilliance. It's the best genre-defying album of 2009. Everytrack has a deep meaning with the fans, "the river people", and with others. You can really tell that Madina Lake have poured their heart and souls into writing that music. With Tracks that make you feel 'badass' like "legends" or "criminals", to tracks like "through the pain" which is sad yet powerful, this album is not one to be missed from your music collection. The epic final track "Lila, the divine game", tops the album off perfectly, and is a real treat of your ears, and to "the river people's" minds.

Madina Lake has huge sound and huge energy! This new album really digs deeper into everyday life situations, i.e - Welcome to Oblivion (about panic attacks and the emptiness which is loneliness)- and it still all ties into their 3 album story about the town Madina Lake and it's socialite Adalia, who disappears from the world of celebrity.

This CD has a lot of different styles on it, some rock, some grind (Legends), and it even has some sadness and a lot of vulnerability (Friends and Lovers). Check this CD out... you won't be disappointed!

I love this album. It seems a little more poppy than their first album, but still edgy, dark and conceptual. More synths are used on this album which makes a different sound. If you don't want to get the whole album, some of the best songs are Let's Get Outta Here, Legends, Not for This world, Criminals, but I'd recommend getting the whole album.

This album came out a year ago. Its still an album I listen to, to get in a good mood because of the more dancier songs on this album than the previous. Overall though, I have to say its not my favorite not because its bad I just like the rawness/less produced sound of the 1st. I love this album more for the lyrics and the songs that make me happy =D Can't wait for the new EP

This album displays the reality of Madina Lake in an alternate reality. The lyrics are so true and so real. Where it is a bit different from their first album, it's absolutely amazing. You can hear how they've musically matured. The songs are crazy awesome and the lyrics are just mindblowing. We can definitely continue to expect great things from the four in Madina Lake.
