I have to say, I enjoy all 3 Atticus CD's greatly, despite the fact that many people claim that they demean in quality as they grow higher in number. I do think though, that this one is probably the best all around.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great combo of bands makes a great punk cd, May 9, 2002
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
this album is awesome period. It has great bands like blink-182, sugarcult, the movielife, Jimmy Eat World, midtown, and the debut of Box Car Racer (which has the best song on the cd, tiny voices). One of the best things is it is only 7$ anywhere you go. I completley recomend this cd to any punk rock fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is awesome!, May 16, 2002
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of punk rock or a fan of bands like blink 182, new found glory, finch, or jimmy eat world this is the album for you. There are 24 tracks on this album and they are all worth listening to. The best part is that this album is [money]!!! You might go into your local music store and pay [money] for a 13 track cd. With this cd you get 24 full length songs for [money]. That is dirt cheap for such a good album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best Atticus Comp, August 7, 2005
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
I have to say, I enjoy all 3 Atticus CD's greatly, despite the fact that many people claim that they demean in quality as they grow higher in number. I do think though, that this one is probably the best all around.

With a large variety of songs to choose from here, any
pop-punk/emo fan will be delighted with this CD. I notice that this particualar comp has far more exclusive tracks than 3. That's why i think this one better. From the start we are treated with a pop-punk assault from the alkaline trio that any fan of the genre will surely enjoy. Following that is a great song from a great band from the emo genre: Finch. I love this song. The next few tracks are also very enlightening such as the NFG chrstmas song and some very good pop-punk tracks from some lesser known bands like Midtown and The Movielife.

Other high points of this one include, The Starting Line, Sugarcult, Glassjaw, Name Taken, and The used.

I was however, dissapointed by a couple of tracks like bright lights big city by: madcap. And Friday Night by slick shoes.

Even though, the good far outweighs the bad and this Comp is definately a deal for 8 or 10 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars it deserves a 6, August 20, 2003
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
Most defineltely my favorite cd. I wasn't sure about it at first, and bought it because it was one of my recommended items. I was immediately amazed, and it just gets better the more you listen to it! There is not a single song that i dislike - they all rock. There's good a variety of punk on this album - pop, hardcore, some emo and ska - a little something for every kind of punk fan. It's also a great way to learn about new bands, for me, Finch, The Movielife, Sugarcult, The Starting Line, The Used, Alkaline Trio, and i could go on forever. so go out and get this album - you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars On The Money, August 18, 2003
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
Atticus scores with this one. As any punk and/or rock guru would know, putting out a CD with previously unreleased tracks by several well known bands will generate the desired cashflow. However, many compilations come up short with the merchandise but this Album offers up plenty to be recognized.

Opening the CD is Alkaline Trio with "Jaked On Green Beers". An excellent song showcasing the bands unique vocal style. Closely following is Finch (one of the heavier songs on the CD) and slick but slightly lacking Blink-182 and New Found Glory numbers.

Several decent tracks scatter through the midpoint of the CD (Greg's Last Day, Yakisoba, Daddy's Little Defect, and Bad Astronaut's cleverly titled track) but the gem of the CD lies in Name Taken's "Safety Of Routine". A heartfelt teenage depression song twined up in truely inspirational singing. Then follows The Used, Agent 51, and a well performed (if not slightly unintense) Jimmy Eat World performance.

Nothing spectacular here, but not something you would want to miss out on. All in all, its a nice rock addition that is well worth the money. Do the math, 24 songs for less than 10 bucks. You're bound to like a few no matter what you're into.

This CD is so great, I can listen to it over and over and over and over. Almost all of the 24 songs are great, and it is totally worth the price. The only song I don't like is track 12 with American Nightmare, it's basically loud drums and random screaming, I have no idea what it's about. If you are looking for new music, you should buy this CD first to check out some of the lesser known artists, I can guarantee you'll want to buy some other new stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definately Worth 7 Bucks, March 29, 2003
This review is from: Atticus: Dragging the Lake (Audio CD)
I didn't think I'd like this CD entirely, but I bought it because it had a lot of great tracks on it and WOW. This is a very well thought out compilation mix. I've listened to it five times already and can't get over how good some of the songs are. Name Taken rocks and Alkaline Trio is always good... but I think the best song on the CD is Finch's "Post Script." They are a phenomenal band. The only track I don't like on this entire CD is Jimmy Eat World but it's okay because it's the last track and I can just shut it off when it gets to that point. Jimmy Eats World [is bad] and I think sticks out like a sore thumb on this record. Overall, if you're short on cash and want some good new music, buy this compilation. It more than likely won't dissapoint.
