5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE debut release (too bad they disband), November 16, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
Short and sweet....by FAR the best CD released in the last 10 years. Unfortunately they broke up. Todd Evans has a new band called THE GOLDEN (www.thegoldensounds.com), so look for their new release sometime after the first of the year. Can't say enough about this CD....and I'm 48 years old.

5.0 out of 5 stars refreshing, August 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
I must agree with the other reviews about Atticus Fault.....there are very original elements to their song writing, while giving kudos to some styles that are reminicent of Verticle Horizon. Todd Evan's voice is the absolute best I have ever heard....sort of Darren Hayes from Savage Garden meets Bono from U2 with a touch of Verticle Horizon thrown in. Just listen to Mother Mary and you'll see what I mean. The album has enough guitar to make rock fans rejoice and make your heart melt all in one. Can't wait for their next!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AF Shines, July 24, 2002
By
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
Atticus Fault is the best I've heard in long, long time. Lyrics are passionate in some songs and playful in others, either way the words are brimming with imagery. "Mary Mother" gives you insight you may never have pondered--you may never look at another Christmas card without Todd Evan's voice and lyrics haunting you. "Silver Stars" is tough and hurting, someone dumps you to grab a pair of "shimmer wings". "Little People" is a battle cry against those who sabotage our bodies and souls, undermining faith and virtue. Listen to "Once Around the Sun" next time you celebrate a wedding anniversary and are past twenty years together; it's what crosses your mind, vulnerable and full. AF touches the heart. Guitar work is fantastic, bouyant on "Soundtrack". Drummer is the heartbeat you can't rock without. Vocals are searing at times and then plaintive but not groveling; other times you can hear the smile on Todd's face. Buy it, these guys SHINE. Beautiful cd artwork, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You Want in Atticus Fault, July 10, 2002
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
I haven't heard an album this good with both rock and melodic tunes since Vertical Horizon came out with their most successful album, "Everything You Want." Atticus Fault's debut self-titled album is definitely bound for success. With its mix of both guitar-driven pop/rock songs and quiet ballads, this album is perfect for anyone who craves more than the hard rock being played all over the stations these days. Tracks 1, 5, and 11 are slow, quiet, and peaceful. Track 2, "My First Trip to Mars" is probably going to be the album's first single. With its radio-friendly lyrics and catchy guitar riffs, this track is bound to get stuck in your head in no time. The rest of the album treats itself like Remy Zero meets British rock with some Savage Garden vocalist undertones. Atticus Fault should have stolen the title from Vertical Horizon because this album is definitely "Everything You Want."

4.0 out of 5 stars "Holy Crap!", August 24, 2006
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
Three weeks ago, I had never heard of Atticus Fault. It was cross referenced on Amazon to another album that I purchased and when I listened to the samples on-line, I was intrigued enough to purchase the CD.

I received it a few days later, popped it in the player and put on my headphones. I was immediately drawn in by the stunning musicianship and soaring melodies. After three tracks, I literally said out loud, "Holy crap! These guys are good!"

Repeating listenings similarly left me shaking my head. I was/am mesmerized by this music. Some tracks are reminiscent of Pink Floyd (especially track 1) but the overall sound here is uniquely Atticus Fault. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Prog Rock, August 17, 2002

Barry Paul (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews

I suspect that the group tires of being compared to Yes...nevertheless, other pretenders to the prog rock throne pale in comparison to Atticus Fault. This music is fresh, refreshing and engaging...excellent vocals and musicianship...especially the rock-solid drummer. Usually, the vocalists in Yes-pretender bands are terribly grating and annoying (The vocalist for the group Relayer, for example). But Todd Evans hits the mark...his vocals are catchy without being derivative. Todd's and drummer Paul's lyrics are compelling as well. Buy this CD, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, May 20, 2002
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
Man it's been a lean year for me musically, I've been searching for something... great and finally it is here!Nashville Rockers Atticus Fault have been knocking people dead with their amazing live show for a while and now, with their stunning debut CD, we get the joy of listening to them all day if we wish!Beautiful, haunting melodies, hooks that get into you and don't let go and powerful lyrics all combine to make this 2002's best offering.I can't say enough about the production, musicianship and vocals. Atticus got it all right on this one. All these songs are great but "My First Trip to Mars" and "Mary Mother" are my personal favorites.Perfect, sums it up quite well. Great job guys!!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Fault Here!, December 22, 2006

This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
I picked this up the local cd shop used, took a quick listen, put it back, but then picked it up anyway. Wow! I was amazed by this one. It had the progressive elements, the melodic moments, the pop flare, and for good measure a little Christan influence. Although a couple of songs are a little too pop oriented for me the overall cd is sound. Best track for me on the whole cd is 'Mary Mother'. Put that on a Christan cd and you'll probably get thrown out of church only because of the words that they use which would be deemed inappropriate, but very thought provoking. If you get this cd and add it to your collection, do so today and you will not be disappointed. It's just a shame that the band broke up and you can't find any word out there on what's next. Even though the one reviewer left a website it's no longer available so you would have to assume something must have really have happened for this band to just quit after one great cd.

They are back together in 2008 and currently working on a new cd. You can find them on My Space.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Thick and lush", May 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Atticus Fault (Audio CD)
Atticus Fault is one of those jewels that never really saw too much light of day, thanks to a collapsed record label. Their style of music really shows through, with the eccentric and alternative tastes of the likes of Coldplay and Radiohead while mixing in their own fullness of sound that really takes your auditory experience to a new level.

If you're interested in alternative styles, buy this.
If you like a full bodied soundtrack, buy this.
Or if you're just plain curious, buy this.

At around $3, how can you go wrong?

By the way, this band is back in production and working on new material. Hope the best for them!
