Tozer writes, "We've lost the awe, the wonder, the fear and the delight. Why? Because we've lost God, or at least we've lost our high and lofty concept of God - the only concept of God that He honors". And so it is today; we can hear the great men and women of old calling to us, "Your God is too small!" What is needed is the strong medicine that comes from an intense gaze upon the Godhead. Tozer has done this and has written in a way that you and I can easily understand. This book encourages us to do the same - to come to know God for who He is and not just for whom we think He might be.

Volume Two contains the following chapters; God's Character; God's Self-Existence; God's Transcendence; God's Eternalness; God's Omnipotence; God's Immutability; God's Omniscience; God's Wisdom; God's Sovereignty; God's Faithfulness; and God's Love.

If some of these chapter titles sound a bit heavy or boring, take heart! They are not. I think you will find them to be life-giving water in the midst of a spiritual desert and a very real source of peace as God's Name is lifted up and magnified from cover to cover in this book. Yes! How great is our God!

A friend of mine suggested this book after her women's group read it together as a study guide on God's attributes. I had read several books on the attributes of God and have studied the topic as well, so I was reluctant to read another book on the topic.

But, I got the book solely on my friend's recommendation, because I value her opinion. I must say I am very glad I did. First off, Tozer is a very gifted writer. He writes about very thought provoking topics, yet does so in understanding ways. He is extremely insightful and brought up some things I have never thought about. Plus, he answered some questions I have had for decades.

The book is about more than common ideas and concepts on the attributes of God. You know the basics - God is all knowing, omnipresent, omnipowerful. Tozer goes way beyond that. And, rightly so. One insightful thing Tozer mentioned was that a society will never rise above its concept of God. I had never thought about that, but once stated it makes perfect sense. The book is full of such jewels.

I can't say enough good things about Tozer. Since finding him I have shared other of his books with friends and they are impressed as well. It is said that Tozer has on his tombstone simply "A Man of God". No truer words were ever written.

Get this book, you won't be sorry!

Excellent resource about God and important characteristics about Him, that's useful in understanding the vastness of His realm. Very valuable resource.

With volume 1 and 2 Tozer covers many of the major attributes of God in a concise method that can be used for bible study (complete with study questions at the end). Each attribute is covered in a 15-20 page chapter with the book being about 180 pages. Compare this to other books on the Attributes which are too theological and are over 500 pages. The information is semi-scholary at best and can be read by all. Tozer sometimes goes off topic in the chapter. Practically, the goal is to get the reader closer to God, which he achieves.

What more can I say. I have found so much in these books that leave me amazed, that make me raise my hands and worship God. The information draws me nearer to God, fleshes out the picture of God in my heart. I can speak more confidently about Him and to Him. I have always suspected that there was something wrong with the popular picture of a super nice God, who is all-forgiving and who has a sugary-sweet loving nature.
These books have given me a biblically-balanced view of God. He is so much more than the popular version. I find myself in awe of Him even with a tinge of fear (not the scary type) but one of "He truly is GOD!"

Now that I am starting to understand His attributes, I begin to see how wonderful our salvation really is, why the work on the cross is so significant and why everyone MUST bow their knees and call Him Lord.

I sincerely believe that these books are a MUST READ for every Christian. I mean, how else are you going to follow Him, if you have no idea Who He is and what He is truly like?

If they can rate these books 10 stars, I will do so.

A.W Tozer is with our Lord even now, and as he lives in glory with the Lord that He has written so much about, he probably realises that these books he wrote, however excellent and true, are but shadows and the foothills of Who are Lord really is.

Excellent book. I enjoy Tozer's writings. I have several of his books. I have both book I and II on this subject in my quest to know God better.

Whether you are lost or saved, you must read this book. God gave Bro Tozer amazing understanding of His person (who God is). While this dear man of God was very intelligent, he was so gifted to write in such a way that anyone can understand his writing. You must purchase this book, and along with the Word of God, study and meditate upon it. Pray and ask God to give unto you "the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him" (Eph 1: 17). Of all the books I have read, from Spurgeon, to Pink, to Charnock, this book by AW Tozer is by far my favorite (apart from The Word)! This world, our country, our churches are in desperate need of the many truths this book contains about God. The idol, false God many professing believers worship today is not the God of the Bible (he is not who God has revealed Himself to be in His Word). Allow this book to guide you, and along with the Word, help you to know more about the true and living God! Also, I chose this version of the book because the modern versions are NOT used, only the King James Version for all scripture reference. May God reveal Himself unto you not in word only but in power and in the Holy Ghost and in much assurance!!

I read this book with a small group of women. It was a great book on its own, but to read it with others made it even better. Instead of talking about issues in our lives, we were able to focus on learning more about God's attributes. Definitely an "awe" inspiring book.
