Book Description

Masters Series of Taoist Internal Practices January 1, 1989
When Every Day Is Saturday is a how-to book: how to plan for a happy, meaningful retirement. The Grace Retirement Inventory (GRI) sets a fast opening pace and prompts thoughtful, focused questions about retirement. Some retirees seem to have failed badly; many others appear to be happy and successful. What was their guide to success? Dr. Grace’s research with seven hundred retirees differentiates this book from all others. Six central themes are developed: 1) freedom and leisure, 2) financial independence, 3) separation from work, 4) family and friends, 5) health and 6) helping others. Readers evaluate their attitude toward each of these themes; this simple measure predicts their happiness in retirement. The writing is concise, interspersed with comments and stories from the lives of current retirees. Inclusion of these vignettes adds hope, inspiration and a dash of realism to what lies ahead for every working adult.

4.0 out of 5 stars gentle progress for greater energy, August 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Attune Your Body With Dao-In (Masters Series of Taoist Internal Practices : Book 1) (Paperback)
As in all of Master Ni's books that I have read, he gives the reader a gentle and caring approach to the topic at hand. His chapter on the relationship between mind and body is unique and insightful. Master Ni is not a man of dogma. He will guide but not insist or forcibly hold the reader's hand to take him or her to a predetermined destination. If you are looking for a guru to spoon feed you answers, then Master Ni may not be for you. If you are attempting to be spiritually self-reliant through your own cultivation, then I would highly recommend Master Ni's body of work.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love dao-in, June 13, 2003
This review is from: Attune Your Body With Dao-In (Masters Series of Taoist Internal Practices : Book 1) (Paperback)
Dao-in has proven to be such an effective way for me to get up and completely prepared for my daily activities. Not only is it easy for me particularly to learn, it incorporates certain movements which also serve to tone my body. I'm not sure who can appropriately state who is or who is not bogus becasue it all depends on you and your level of absorbtion. I'd recommend this for seniors, for those interested in yoga and anyone else who feels like flexibility would be a welcome addition to their life Enjoy but i do say if you get the book get the tape so you can see how the form is suppose to be done correctly, you don't want to hurt yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ancient wisdom for us, July 7, 2006
By
This review is from: Attune Your Body With Dao-In (Masters Series of Taoist Internal Practices : Book 1) (Paperback)
I take issue with the other reviewer who rated all NiHuaChing's books (and Master Ni) negatively. Let this person share his wondrous credentials. The person obviously has a personal grudge and I would be very careful and read at least one of NiHuaChing's books in order to properly JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. I met NiHuaChing several times in the late 70's, knew some of his students, and found Master Ni to be sincere in his desire to share knowledge which has been passed down from antiquity. His students learn everything from tai chi tailored to the seasons to herbology and Chinese medicine. In my opinion, Master Ni's books can be helful by themselves, or as supplements to your own studies and classes. He speaks plainly and never condescends. I have read several of his books and have found them to be quite steady and on the mark.
