I had an Attwod manual before and wanted to install an automatic pump. It was easy to install and because I had the fittings all ready there, it was quick. Im much happier now that I dont have to worry about checking my boat in the middle of the night when it's raining cats and dogs.

Yes, it's an automatic pump, if you buy the additional switch that is required to make it automatic. This is deceptive marketing. I wouldn't have ordered this pump if they had noted that you had to buy a seperate switch. I think Amazon needs to address this with both Attwood and in thier advertising. I also feel that Attwood and/or Amazon should send all the customers who have been fooled into thinking that it is automatic as sold the required switch free of charge. What about it Amazon?

Easy to insatll. pumps great. Small compact unit with built in switch not found in other pumps. The automatic function great for a boat left alone like mine. Get one. You won't be unhappy.

I installed the Attwood pump as a replacement pump for a failed Rule pump. It installed easily in the same spot and has worked well for over a month now. I would recommended this product.

This pump is perfect for a small boat bilge pump. Runs quiet and cool.

This bilge pump fits under the engine great.Easy to install and pump and base snap together great.Wiring was easy. Service and comunication with Amazon was excellent. All-around good transaction.

Much more expensive at our local marine supply store. Works great and is reasonably priced especially through Amazon. I've used this brand for many years and have been very satisfied.

i have had my boat in the water over 25 yrs i have changed my atwood 500 pump only twice my neighber bought one two yrs ago and the float contact connections failed to work properly also theres no stainless steel strainer and whats up with the un nessary turn switch for the float this pump goes back under my floor just another thing to gue up or cause failer unfortionaly i will not continue to buy attwood five hundred automatic pumps im holding my neighbers in my hand it looks new but not working properly why did thay change a good thing the desighn etc whan thay were the best well good luck i hope i do not have to change my new rule for at least ten yrs/ thanks vincent
