I am a bi-lingual Celine Dion fan and a devotee of her French language works which I find far superior to her English releases. Perhaps singing in her native language allows Celine's soul to soar higher, exposing the listener to her heart; permitting a better appreciation of her amazing artistic talent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Legendary Performance, September 27, 2004
This review is from: Au Coeur Du Stade (Audio CD)
An Epic concert experience at the legendary Stata De France before 200,000 people that spanned over 2 different nights. This performance block was over a 2 week, 4-night performance schedule on the UK portion of Dion's 98 tour. 2 back to back performances at Stata De France for 100,000 people per night, and 2 English performances at Wembley Stadium. 78,000 patrons per show. Concert attendance was recordbreaking.

Although Celine has vocally sounded better on past live efforts, namely "Live in Paris" which was recorded at the legendary Zenith theater in France, in which her voice sounded incredible. This album lives up to the legendary billing that it has been given. A true feet in sound and choreography, the challenge of adapting a show that normally played for 25,000 people to 100,000 people was achieved and Dion and her band delivered.

On this album Celine glides through songs from her most recent French release. Celine's quiet and captivating performance of the weary "Je Crois Toi" and the powerful moving performances of "Terre" and "Dans Un Autre Monde" are exciting to the concert listener. Celine tackles 2 songs from her record breaking, 1995 best selling French album in history, Duex. "Pour Que Taimes Encore" is a crowd favorite and the tragic "Je Sais Pas" (I Don't Know), is especially touching due to the cancer scare Dion's husband was going through at the time.

Celine also samples a few English hits including the worldwide phenomenon "My Heart Will Go On and the title track from her most recent English release "Lets Talk About Love."

With Dion's touring days behind her it is unlikely that fans will ever see such an epic performance again in her career.

Perhaps singing in her native language allows Celine's soul to soar higher, exposing the listener to her heart; permitting a better appreciation of her amazing artistic talent.

That said, "Au Coeur du Stade" is a bitter disappointment. The CD is, quite simply, poorly engineered and over-modulated obscuring Celine's vocals and serving Celine poorly. The buyer is better served by purchasing "S'il suffisait d'aimer" or other Celine Dion French language studio recordings.

I love Celine's music, but this release stinks!

I abselutly love this LIVE CD of Céline Dion. Her French music is much much more better than her English music!! I'm not the only one who likes her French music more, than English though. Even though I don't speak French, her French music touches me in away to love it anyways. :) I didn't actually buy the Au Coeur Du Stade CD, it was burned for me. I'm glad I got it burned! I totally love it:) I can't stop saying that I love it, cos I do. My favorite part on this CD is where she does the duet with Jean-Jacques Goldman...:) And then when she sings My Heart Will Go On and Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore!! Céline is the best singer, in the world. Nobody can compare to her! I highly recommend on buying Au Coeur Du Stade now... :)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Je l'adore! Buy this CD!, May 19, 2000

I bought this CD the other day and immediately fell in love with it. I've always loved Celine Dion's work and now that I know enough French to understand her in her native language, I have been collecting the french albums as quickly as I could. Parlez-vous francais? Achetez-le maintenant! If you don't understand french, you won't understand her comments to the crowd which would detract from your enjoyment of this product.

... I love it alot! I'm listening to it right now in fact. hehe!!! Celine always releases the best albums, even the Live albums too. But on this CD, her Au Coeur Du Stade CD she made the songs sound a whole lot different. Like on Je Sais Pas, My Heart Will Go On, even the Medley part.

My favorite is when she does the duett with Jean-Jacques Goldman. ;) So anyways, since you've read this review and saw how much I liked it, I suggest you buy it too. Go CELINE!

Whether you understand French or not, this is a Celine Cd you should get if you're a big fan. Favorite song is "On ne change pas". What can I say other than this is great pop music.

THIS is an album only made for money! Celine's voice isn't at her best -just compare songs like "pour que tu m'aimes encore" "j'irai ou tu iras" with the album "live a paris"-. Plus this album has been recorded in a stadium, which is the worst place for the sound! The most deceiving in this album is the songs its gives, half of the titles already were on the previous live album, and almost 3/4 of the concert isn't here (her virtual duets, her especial live covers, her musical moments, the persentation of her crew, lots of her hits,...)

3.0 out of 5 stars An Obscure Live Affair in Front of 90,000, August 12, 2007

Released at the same time as the compilation "All the Way: A Decade of Song" in 1999, this live album -- recorded at Stade de France in Paris, the venue the French soccer team won the World Cup a year before -- was designed primarily for Celine Dion's French speaking audience. The recording, bookended by the two English songs from the 1997 "Let's Talk About Love" (one of them, of course the Titanic movie smash "My Heart Will Go On"), works mainly as a French Greatest Hits. Most of the repertoire is taken from the 1995 and 1998 albums composed by Jean-Jacques Goldman, who also appears onstage in the middle of the album. Highlights include "Je sais pas", "Je crois toi" and "S'il sufissait d'aimer", some other French songs are simply not that good ("Terre") or the renditions somehow falter to make impression ("Pour que tu m'aimes encore"). Interesting is the acoustic medley, of which a song was later used in Potuguese version on the 2002 album "A New Day Has Come". Overall, this is a decent live testimony of Celine Dion artistry at the super-peak of her popularity. Meanwhile, however, the album fell into obscurity; even at the time of its release there was no big promotional campaign with it.

I love the LIVE Au Coeur Du Stade CD, it sounds so awesome with the audience cheering for Celine and Celine singing in French and singing 2 songs in English. Celine sounds so much better in French than English! But I love her singing in both languages, too! And even though I don't know all french, but some how I enjoy her French music more, and it's fun to listen to! I reccomend you all buy this CD today!!! :)
