With her old circular dial thermostat on its last legs, my mother went to the local hardware store to buy a replacement. The store employee had her buy a 3-wire model since they only carry two and three model ones. Imagine my horror when I started removing her old one and found FIVE wires. My initial research said that many hardware stores don't cary five wire thermostats, and they usually have to be special ordered for contractors and HVAC specialists. Thankfully Amazon came to the rescue! This product arrived fast and took less than 20 minutes to install and program. It looks great and it is so easy to program/reprogram that my mom can do it (sorry, mom).

Easy to install according to included instructions, looks great, works great, has already paid for itself in energy savings...very happy with this purchase. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a programmable thermostat with plenty of features that's stylish to boot.

I've used three of these thermostats in our home for two years. I found them difficult to program and have replaced them with three, larger, Honeywell RTH8500D thermostats. Big improvement in user friendliness when it comes to programming the unit. Ease of programming will translate into more days spent on auto mode rather than manual mode and will generate more savings.

Have replaced all 5 of my home's old thermostats with this one a few months ago. It's simple to set up, has a comprehensive set of features, no complaints here. Has day, night, and vacation programmable temperature settings.

This one is sleek and very easy to use. I have used it for a couple of weeks now and it is working well. The interface is really clean and intuitive. Great product.

For the price, I did not expect this thing to be so good. The so called "intelligent" mode is awesome, predicts where the temperature is heading and reacts in anticipation. Buying a couple more.

Ok, this is my 8-month review. Unit behaved great during the whole summer. The thing seems to be pretty intelligent. It keeps the temp locked on what I set it (73). Starts the AC even before the temp goes over 73 so that it never goes beyond that. Manual says something about it "learning" the temp patters where it is installed. After seeing how it works, I believe it.

***ON the other hand*** Since we started having very cold nights about once a week it behaves oddly. Looks like it turns the heating on at night and then during the day it "forgets" to turn on the A/C so temp keeps rising and rising... When it happens it is very stubborn and only comes to its senses after a while of cursing at it. Simply ignores what I enter. I wonder if my unit is faulty or what. It started to happen when cold nights and hot days started (going from heat -> AC)

Other days it does switch between heat and AC just fine. A bit odd. I think I'd still buy another one...

I just installed an older version, the TH141A-HC-2B. Looks just like the newer version. It had come with a furnace a friend had installed but never used.
It was dead easy to install and program, and works fine. My only concern is that the internal relays (I looked them up) are "telecom" relays, meant for low-level signals, not the 24VAC furnaces use. Seems like a misapplication, and I am concerned how long the relays will last. Maybe the new version uses better relays? The old classic Honeywell lasted about 25 years.

I have had difficulty getting the right time and temperature to stay on this clock. It is very difficult to set.
