This Aube by Honeywell multi-purpose timer is ideal for year-round applications indoors or outdoors, including pool pumps, holiday lighting, block heaters and more. Photocell mode activates program when darkness threshold is reached at dusk and turns off timer at programmed time. Temperature sensor mode executes programming when temperature falls to 12 degrees Celsius (10 degrees Fahrenheit), six degrees Celsius and (21 degree Fahrenheit), or three degrees Celsius (37 degrees Fahrenheit), per user's choice. Sunset and sunrise mode turns on timer at dusk and off at dawn. Rugged, weatherproof construction enables indoor or outdoor use. Temporary bypass enables override without affecting programming. Programming protected during a power failure using permanent memory. Easy three-button programming.

This Aube brand timer(s) is the ONLY available timer which when programmed will start at dusk and turn Off at a preset hour. This allows an outdoor lighting array to turn On at dusk and then Off at a desired time. Other timers will come On at dusk but turn Off only after a set number of hours, but not a predertermined hour. The Aube timer maintains the same Off time while turning On at dusk...all year. Another benefit is the Freeze-heater program...I'm in California and don't need it. Not an easy to find product. My second one...first lasted 5 years of daily use.

I use this to schedule a reboot for my POS AT&T U-Verse router. It needs to be rebooted about once a month, but it would freeze at random times. Now I have this and I power it off nightly at 4:59am and back on at 5:00am.

I bought this timer to power the engine heater for my truck, which is one of the recommended uses of the product, according to the manufacturer. The idea is to turn the power on at a given time, like 5AM, to save electricity.
The problem is that it doesn't remember the time when you unplug it. And I do unplug this thing from the power outlet when I'm done with my engine heater in the morning. After all, I don't want to leave my extension cord and timer out on the driveway all day while I'm gone.
The manual says that the timer will remember the time for only a few seconds, when it is unplugged. It will remember the other programs (temperature threshold and sunrise/sunset mode selection), but not the time.
So I'd say this product is useful only if you can leave it plugged in all the time.

Fails after 2 months
