The Only Gel I Use,
By L.L. (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aubrey Organics - B5 Design Gel, 8 fl oz gel (Misc.)
This is really the only gel I use. I never load mystery chemicals into my healthy hair. I avoided using most styling aids until well into my mid 20s. After a breakup I decided to cut my long wavy hair which resulted in its springing up into frizzy spiral curls. After using conventional styling aids I began my search for leave-ins with safe, natural ingredients that defined my curls but didn't leave a film of chemical garbage on my hair.
My search didn't last long, but my hair had grown out a bit before I discovered Aubrey Organics' B5 Design gel. This is the only product of any kind with which I am consistently happy. It even stands out among other Audrey Organics' other products that I've tried as the absolute best. I never have to rotate between this and other similar products. This is not a gel for maximum hold or funky styles - this is more of a conditioning gel. What I like about B5 Design Gel is that it uses herbal gums to control frizz in my hair without weighing it down. I don't have very porous hair and products have a habit of just sitting on top of my hair, but I find this product is well absorbed into my hair by the end of the day. Considering that this is a product made with aloe, vitamins, and essential oils, that is fine by me. This is a great natural heat protector and it is also a good conditioner aside from doing a good job of defining gentler, non-coarse curls. Also, one eight ounce bottle goes a long way - I bought a second bottle to keep around when I finished the one I had - which still hasn't happened. I even enjoy the smell of this gel, which is light and herbal. I cannot recommend this product highly enough for those who want conditioning and frizz taming with light-to-moderate hold.

A little goes a long way!,
By Cynthia (NC) - See all my reviews

I hate using hairsprays and anything unnatural in my hair. Aubrey Organics is a company that I can trust to not put anything harmful in their products.
If I need some extra hold or smoothing, I mix a small amount of this with some jojoba or coconut oil in the palm of my hand, and smooth it onto my damp hair. It does a fantastic job of holding without looking or feeling stiff. Don't use too much or it will flake.

Amazing!,
This review is from: Sea Buckthorn Leave-in Curl Activator - 4 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
This is by far my favorite hair product. I have corse wavy hair, and it is extremely frizy when I don't use any hair product. Other hair products leave my hair crunchy, which I don't like. This product leavs my hair soft, curly, and friz free!

Great Product for the price...,

This review is from: Aubrey Organics - Sparkling Mineral Water Herbal Complexion Mist, 4 fl oz liquid (Misc.)
I am not a big makeup person - so when I do put it on I want it to last. With that said I have used other products (Model in a Bottle, Mac's Fix-it+ Spray) to set my make up. However, both of those tend to be a tad pricey. I didn't want to shell out the money for another bottle of those and went in search for a similar product with a not so similar price tag. Marlena over at Makeupgeek recommended Aubry's Organic Mineral Water as a great alternative to the more expensive makeup setters.
I have to say I have been very impressed with this product so far. It does a very good job setting my makeup and making it last ALL DAY! I do find it fairly evenly lined with the more expensive products. My one qualm about it is that it doesn't exactly smell that great. It definitely doesn't have the Fix-it Spray scent. It isn't horrible but really it isn't all that great either. As far as buying it from Amazon - I have to say, I have found it cheaper at other websites but after shipping and handling is said and done Amazon still beats the other sites by a good $3-4. Overall - Great product, great alternative to the more expensive setters. One drawback - scent. Still I would buy it again and will be using it again.

Great Curl Refresher for Kinky/Curly Hair,
By

This review is from: Sea Buckthorn Leave-in Curl Activator - 4 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
I didn't expect this to really activate, revive, or refreshen my kinky/curls but it did all those things and gave my hair the needed moisture (no greasiness).
My only disappointment is the cost for such little product. It only last about 3 weeks and I used it every other day (and I'm not heavy handed). However, I will purchase again for the colder months. The smell is just ok. It smells herbal.

Smooths hair and leave it soft to the touch!,

This review is from: Aubrey Organics - B5 Design Gel, 8 fl oz gel (Misc.)
I love this gel! I put a nickle sized dollop in my damp hair, and when my hair dries it is free of all fly-aways, yet my hair is smooth to the touch and feels like I have nothing in it. If I want more hold I can add more, but basically I use it to have nice waves free from frizzy hair.

Works just like regular hair gel. I am very happy with this product, as I did not expect an organic product to be as good as one of the regular off-the-shelf products. I will be using this forever it seems. Cheers.

favorite vegan gel for medium hold,

This review is from: Aubrey Organics Men's Stock Ginseng Biotin Hair Gel - 6 oz - Gel (Misc.)
This is a good clean-feeling gel for light-to-medium hold. It isn't sticky or slimy and doesn't make short hair feel like a crusty brick :). I use it to brush my bangs back without having them look too severe, and control flyaways on the side of my head. It's not for someone who wants a harder spiky look and feel. I have tried 2 other vegan gels and came back to this one. Also has a light, pleasant smell. I received this product within a few days from the Amazon marketplace vendor and even with shipping, it was cheaper than buying it at a store in a fancy mall.

Not appropriate for loose curls or wavy hair; smells like eggs,
By L.L. (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sea Buckthorn Leave-in Curl Activator - 4 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
I have very wavy hair/loose spiral curls in my hair and I am always on the lookout for products that don't weigh down my hair but at the same time define the curls a bit better. Therefore I had high hopes for this curl activator spray.
I was to be disappointed, however. I found that it just sat on top of the hair and left it far too greasy. I also detested the smell - to me it smelled like rotten eggs. Not surprising, given that one of the ingredients happens to be Egg Protein Oil. Perhaps the product would be better suited to more coarse and dry hair types (or hair that is protein-starved), but I do not recommend this product for persons of my hair type - very wavy to loose curls with hair that is medium in thickness, and not really too dry. What bothered me more than the oiliness of the product - I could have just used less - was the smell which kept me even from reusing the bottle. |
