Product Description

The Buzz Bulb, which is shaped like a regular light bulb, screws into a light socket of your motion detector light system. However instead of giving off light, when triggered, it emits an audible alarm -- loud enough to frighten any prowler while alerting those inside your home. The Buzz Bulb works well protecting homes during the daytime when lights are inactive. Customers also like the noise benefit of the Buzz Bulb at night because it not only frightens prowlers -- but also scares unwelcome animals, such as deer or raccoons, away from gardens and trash cans. Whereas lights alone don't have this effect. Since most motion detectors accept 2 lights -- one socket can still be used for a light and the other for the Buzz Bulb. The Buzz Bulb is ideal for protecting garages, sheds, outside workshops, barns and gardens. It's also good for alerting you if children or pets approach swimming pools or other restricted areas. The alarm sounds until the area is clear and the detector automatically switches off.

We've got video cameras, fences, signs, etc. All of the "usual" crime prevention measures put into our place at my business. None of these stopped people from coming on the property of the business at night. Then we bought the buzz bulbs. They initially startle people then quickly the people scurry off with the attention being drawn to them from the buzzing noise. Recommend these to any business for your parking lots, loading docks, etc. for at night.

I expected an alarm loud enough to actually ALERT someone. I intended to use it in a security floodlight in my driveway but I'd never hear it from inside the house

Not a very loud alarm. This needs to be on the side of your house...next to your bedroom window to hear it.

I bought this buzz bulb to put on a timer in my garden to keep those blankety-blank raccoons out of my corn. I just needed something that, coupled with a light, would ensure those scalawags left some corn for us. I was hoping that I COULDN'T hear it - the garden is 100 feet away and down a hill and I put the buzzer amongst the corn stalks. Well, I can hear the buzzer - unlike most, I didn't want it to. My husband says he can't hear it. I think that what is important is that the intruder (be it human or raccoon) will be startled enough to leave. There was no foraging in my garden last night! Only time will tell if the buzzer can withstand the higher use level of being on a timer (or if the raccoons will become jaded to the lights and sound).

I have searched and searched for a 120 volt alarm for my motion sensor. When the sensor turns the light on, this alarm starts.
This is part of my home-made alarm system. The decibel rating is ample for an enclosed area such as a basement. The sensor is wired to a switch so it does not come on all the time. When the sensor is turned on, everything lights up and buzzes for 30 seconds or so. To overcome this, I split-off one of the bulb holders black wires and ran the wire to a wall switch and back. I turn the buzzer off until the motion sensor goes to stand-by. It is easier than listening to the buzzer for 30 to 45 seconds. True, this is not the 115 decibel ear piercing sound that comes from a commercial alarm system. The sound is very annoying in the basement.
