5.0 out of 5 stars Great variety, July 25, 2007
This review is from: An Audience with Cliff Richard [VHS] (VHS Tape)

Cliff Richards is really in his element here, with a proper variety act. I particularly enjoyed the five minute reading from Genesis and even Richard Dawkins joins in with the standing ovation that follows. One would have to be grudgingly honest and say that his rendition of 'Nessun Dorma' falls a little flat- a full tritone flat in one instance. Still, did the editors really do have to do him the disservice of zooming in on Pavarotti's incredulous face when he struggled with the high C? That was rather cruel. Anyhow, Cliff more than makes up for that with the duet version of 'Morning has Broken' with Gary Wilmot.

One word of warning- while it's largely in good taste, he does cross the line with a couple of risque gags. The anecdote about his tour to the Phillipines is plain smutty. All in all, a fine show but not one for the kids!
