5.0 out of 5 stars I love these head phones
I first tried Audio Bone at CES 09 (Consumer Electronics Show). I liked them but I wasn't sure about the price. After traveling and using traditional ear buds, my ears were ringing. I decided to buy them and I love them. I think the sound quality is great and they are very comfortable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, September 15, 2009

This is a sad day for me and I don't write this lightly. I usually don't give bad reviews - in this case I make a rare exception and for the first time I wish there was a rating lower than one star - to me this is a zero star review - so buyer beware. The product is okay at very best but the Audio Bone Customer Service in non-existent in my personal experience. I personally don't recommend them and I hardly ever use them due to the low volume when they are attached to my iPod Nano. I bought a set of the Audio Bone head phones in May 2009 I was home from Iraq on R&R and when they arrived they were not what I was expecting so I called Customer Service to ask some questions and also find out how to and possibly return the Audio Bone Headphones as they were supposed to have a 30 money back guarantee. I called the Audio Bone office but it was closed so I left a voice message expressing my concerns about the product and how to get the mp3 amplifier they advertise because the volume using an iPod is lower than I wanted it to be as they said it might be using the Audio Bone headphones. Their web site says contact them for details on the MP3 amplifier and I have at least 3 times maybe 4 times and still no response. I didn't hear back from the customer service representative in a timely manner and had to reurn to Iraq at the end of my 15 day R&R and ended up back in Iraq with the headphones. I sent e-mails to the customer service rep from Iraq saying I was not happy with the head phones and now that the 30 money back guarantee had expired I was stuck with them. and I have e-mailed them time and time again - still no reply - it's like they are taking it personally that I am not happy with the product and are ignoring my request to find out the details about the mp3 amplifier. I e-mailed customer service again last week saying, "Please send the details for the amplifier." As of 15 Sep 09, the day of this review, I have never heard back from the customer service representative or anyone else from Audio Bone. As far as the headphones - I'd say they are at the very best okay but not what I expected. If you buy them you might be perfectly happy with them. I watched the on-line video and got the impression that a person could not hear the sound until you put the headphones on the bone where they would conduct sound to the inner ear - not so. I also thought the wearer would be the only one who could hear the sounds - not so. The first time I put them on I was informed by the person sitting next to me that they could hear the music just like they could as if I were using ear buds - big disappointment to me. This Audio Bone headphone is a big let down to me and their customer service might as well not exist. I have experienced nothing but unpleasant frustration with the Audio Bone Customer Service department because they never have gotten back with me - never once replied to an e-mail. In my opinion if you are looking for a good set of ear buds or sound isolating ear buds or personal headphones look at the ones made by Shure or Sennheiser. This is not a paid endorsement, just my personal experience. If you are set on the Audio Bone product, well.... Good luck, but beware.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: No Customer Service., August 21, 2010

After reading Mark Grant's review, I emailed customer service through the address provided on Audio Bone's website. I immediately got a message that this email is no longer functional.

Audio Bone does not have a viable Customer Service department. You cannot rely on them for returns, refunds, or help if your product is defective. They clearly cannot stand behind the website's "45 day satisfaction guarantee."

I strongly advise staying away from Audio Bone. There are plenty of reputable companies that offer bone conduction headphones.

The only negative would be that it would be nicer if I could tighten the head piece a little bit, but its very minor.

the sound quality is very poor. The volume is too low. Such poor performance from such expensive product is not expected. I ask everyone not to buy it. Is pure waste of money. I hated the headphones. They r useless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Work, December 23, 2010

I use mine while at work, in a loud environment, and they work very well while using earplugs. I can still hear everything around me at the same time as well. The sound quality is a little muffled but that is expected with other loud noises in the environment. Highly recommended for anyone else looking to use for this type of application. Also great sound quality underwater, as far as I could tell. (only used them for a short period of time)

5.0 out of 5 stars An AMAZING product that solves a CRUCIAL dilemma for an AUDIOPHILE with SSHL hearing disability, March 22, 2011
By
This review is from: Audio Bone AB10BK 1.0 Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
Approximately seven months ago I was stricken with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL)
resulting in a total loss of hearing in my right ear. The effects of SSHL are devastating
and very depressing. Fortunately, I was able to receive the Golden treatment within days of
the affliction from an ENT surgeon and was able to regain about 50% of my hearing back in my
right ear after about three and half months with a significant loss of certain mid and high
range frequencies, and a large reduction of normal audio volume that I once enjoyed.
First, I invested in a hearing aid in an effort to boost what hearing I had left but, hearing
aids are not for everyone especially if you can't stand the very annoying Occlusion effect
that complicates the benefits of wearing a hearing aid along with the loss of spatial
hearing.
In order to properly hear and already an audiophile, I invested in a small miniture battery
operated amplifier with built-in L+R stereo mics, equalizer, balance and volume controls
(worn around my neck and under my shirt) and some very expensive headphones ($500.00) with
some satisfaction in overcoming hearing clarity while in public. I enjoy listening to
classical music, Jazz and meditation CDs infused with Binuaral beats coupled with entrainment
(i.e. Holosync and Hemi-Sync technology) which I have fully enjoyed until my SSHL affliction.
Even with the best industry headphones, these headphones CANNOT (I repeat CANNOT)compensate for
these type of hearing problems nor allowed me to hear and enjoy the effects of these audio
technologies including Solfeggio Harmonics. Later, after experimenting with different
headphones the Bose MIE2 mobile headset w/built-in mic ($116.00) performed just as well as
the expensive headsets for hearing conversation, cellphone and listening to normal music due
to the nature of SSHL hearing problems.
However As of today, I am now greatly overjoyed and impressed by the fact that I now can
enjoy these audio investments once again with the use of my new AudioBone headset AB10BK 1.0
headphones (Black). I am now able to listen to and enjoy the effects of the Holosync, Hemi-Sync,
Binural beats coupled with entrainment sessions once again played on my computer with the aid
of a sound equalizer software to compensate and boost for the loss of certain frequencies in
my right ear. I also enjoy these same sessions on my Creative Labs Zen MP3 player. I don't
claim the same results for others afflicted with SSHL or with a similar set of circumstances
because all cases are different.
Even though I don't have a 100% semblance of the hearing ability I once had due to SSHL, I give these
headphones 5 Stars for technology and innovation (Bone Conduction using transducers), usefulness,
comfort and a very serious alternative for very expensive hearing aids which still can't acheive
the same performance in hearing and price versus the AudioBone headset for frequency response
using Holosync, Hemi-Sync, Binural beats coupled audio sessions. The AudioBone headset has
given me back what I have sorely missed for the last several months! I hope others can enjoy
and benefit from these headphones as much as I am!
Also, I was also greatly impressed with the AudioBone customer service. I received my headphones
promptly as they arrived on a Friday afternoon via UPS Ground (2nd Day). These units are
sealed packages from the manufacturer, unfortunately the right ear bud was non-operational.
I called and notified customer service of the problem that afternoon, she apologized for the
inconvenience and overnighted another headset which arrived on Monday noon and she even sent
a UPS return label via email so that I could return the defective headset!

2.0 out of 5 stars Horribly overpriced, August 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Audio Bone AB10BK 1.0 Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
It's made of what looks like cheap plastic. The tin-can sound quality is terrible and it sounds a lot like cheap earphones. For $180, this is a complete rip-off considering you can get water resistant Sensheissers for half the price.

Having said that, it does work, sort of. Unless you're planning to submerge them in water or absolutely insist on keeping your ears uncovered, it makes no sense to purchase this product. Pineapple Rumble K might be a more sensible option.
