I so wanted this to work, but sadly this product is a NO buy.

Even with the Shuffle's volume turned all the way up, it's still not very loud.

I have yet to try them out underwater, but once I do, I will give an update.

These headphones are awesome. I have used them outdoors on the tractor blowing snow with earplugs in, in the swimming pool with earplugs, and at work without earplugs. It works very well and is comfortable enough to wear all day. The two cons to the product are that it requires max volume on my ipod nano 4g and, hence, burns battery much faster and the design of the headphones makes it so that when you turn your head the wire out the back gets caught on clothing or the hard parts of the hoop catch on my neck and make it so that turning your head affects the sound quality and moves the headphones which is distracting. It is not a problem that makes it unusable, but it is a problem.

I am a serious swimmer. I've tried several types of music systems including Finis. I bought this product for my underwater apple shuffle by Wifi. They are very comfortable. They stay secure on your cheek bone too, even while swimming butterfly. My main complaint is sound quality. The sound is absolutely horrible. Even if you turn your volume all the way up on high, you can barely hear the music. I tried using these with and without silicone ear plugs; same result, terrible sound. What you end up hearing is gobbled tinny and faint sounds.
I so wanted this to work, but sadly this product is a NO buy. Way overpriced too.

January 2014..... To be fair to this product, I have begun using it again to give it another try. Here's the scoop for using it for swimming. You must use ear plugs. It's vital that you plug your ear canal so you minnimize the sound of water swooshing about. Have them positioned slightly to the left of your ear lobe. It seems to work ok by doing this. You will still need your volume pretty high, but not all the way maxed. Is the sound great? NO.... Is it horrible? Close.
Is it overpriced? Heck yes!
In my view now; as long as I have something, that is better then nothing. I'm also glad to not have to mess around with ear buds.

My SwimMP3 died after one year and its reviews were dreadful. I replaced it with a waterproof ipod shuffle and the audio bone 1.0 headphones for $345 total. Frankly, the sound was better with the SwimMP3 but the product is too unreliable so I spent double the cost of the SwimMP3 to get a product that is more likely to last awhile. I paid $165 with free shipping thru Amazon for the headphones. When looking to give a headphones as a gift, I saw that amazon's price is up to $180. Found the same headset directly from audio bone for $30 less including shipping.

NOTE: the jack on the headphones is NOT waterproof. I read that fact on the audio bone site; I did not spot it in the info from the amazon .

This headset works great. I did a lot of research and decided that a headphone that was an ear bud probably wouldn't work for a swimming workout. I paired this with a waterproof ipod shuffle and have been very happy for almost a year. The ipod is, well, an ipod. The sound on this headset comes through your cheek bones. You do have to turn up the sound to hear the music in the water, but the sound is good and it makes my workouts fun. -worth the money!

I went looking for these because I work in a factory and these are now all we can use. I found the product website but did not want to pay $139.00. So I went looking on amazon and found them... For 74 cents more than the manufacturer's website. These do not cost $189.99 like amazon claims. So if you're paying the same price you might as well order from the manufacturer to give you a choice of eight different color and not just black or blue. I have ordered them and will give an update when I get to use them.
