Product Description

Created especially for on-air news and sports broadcasting, announcing & interviews, this rugged stereo headset offers natural, highly intelligible and focused vocal reproduction, closed-back circumaural (around-the-ear) ear cups to seal out background noise, and a high-output dynamic microphone mounted on a flexible gooseneck boom. The headset's microphone has a cardioid polar pattern tailored for pickup of speech with maximum voice intelligibility over a wide range of frequencies. It is more sensitive to sound originating directly in front of the element, making it useful in reducing pickup of unwanted sounds. The flexible gooseneck boom swivels for easy positioning on either the right or left side.

I needed the perfect gift for Father's Day. My dad loves to sing and play guitar. I looked in all the local stores for a replacement for his headset. There were plenty of computer headsets, but none I could find with microphone and amplifier jacks that fit his audio equipment. Then I looked on Amazon and found this professional broadcast headset Audio-Technica BPHS1 Stereo Headset with Dynamic Boom Mic. It was definitely worth the price. My Dad loves his new headset. He says it sounds better than his original one. He says it is very comfortable as well.

I bought this headphone/mic combo to use when playing drums and singing during practice sessions. Works well but would not use it for stage. Microphone is more designed for voice work rather than singing but it does the job for me and the unit overall is made well and heavy duty! Good wires and jacks. Headphones sound good. Hope this review helps. Keep rockin!

Recently used this unit to do 'public address announcing' & player intros., etc. @ a high school basketball game. Plugged the XLR mic connection right into the school's soundboard along with the headphone 1/4" stereo-audio plug into the headphone jack for audio monitoring. It worked like a champ, and I got complements on the sound quality. It kept my hands free to do other things and not have to juggle a hand-held mic. I've also experimented with it on UStream via a 'Behringer Xenyx 802 Premium 8-Input 2-Bus Mixer with Xenyx Mic Preamps and British EQs' directly into my Mac computer. A great unit for the price. I'd also recommend using it with the 'Behringer XENYX 1002B Premium 10-Input 2-Bus Mixer with XENYX Preamps, British Eqs And Optional Battery Operation' along with the 'Behringer MDX2600 2-Channel Expander/Gate/Compressor/ Peak Limiter' for the audio benefits of having a compressor/limiter/gate. These professional broadcast headphones are awesome! We use them both for a radio show broadcast and for our daily service of telephone calls. Our calls come through a JK Audio Universal Broadcast Host (a digital hybrid splitter) and are delivered to our Mackie Mixer that provides us the feed to the headphones. The microphone lead from this headset plugs straight into our Mackie board and out to said hybrid splitter. The resulting sound both on the phone calls and on the radio instream is great. Thus, the BPHS1 headset is perfect for our use. We can separately control the volume and the quality of both the incoming caller and our outgoing voice; and, most importantly, we can comfortably wear the BPHS1 headset all day--it is outstanding! The headset mounted microphone is truly a professional unidirectional mic; with a 3-pin XLR plug. We are broadcasting in a fairly noisy environment; where computer fans, etc. are running in the background; however, though this mic picks up only our talent's voice and leaves out virtually all other sounds from the environment; without any need for post recording filters. It is so clear that we could plug the mic cable directly into the Broadcast Host. We choose to use the Mackie board for its added versatility. We could not be happier with our purchase of theBPHS1 Broadcast Stereo Headset.

After reviewing many options for the ideal system for recording audiobooks, I settled on this one, paired with a US-100 Tascam USB Interface. Audio quality has been very pleasurable. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the ear pads are too thin (1/2") and the earphones press against my ears, making them get sore with any significant use. I may need to find or make some thicker pads to replace the default set.

This headset has a nice feel on the head if you are looking for headset that feels like you are getting wrapped in the sound that is going to come from them. The mic boom and mic are also easy to work with and have a solid pickup.
