Product Description

The Audio Technica AT897 is a short shotgun condenser microphone designed for audio capturing in video and broadcast applications. The microphone's unobtrusive length of 11" (279.40mm) ensures that the microphone remains out of the frame when mounted on compact, consumer video cameras.

The microphone's narrow pick up pattern enhances signal reproduction when capturing audio at long range. Excellent off-axis sound rejection minimizes noise and ambiance, emphasizing the desired signal. A wide frequency response provides accurate sound reproduction of signals registering at various frequencies. A low-cut frequency switch eliminates noise and hum registering at the low frequency range. The microphone operates on a single 1.5v AA battery or 11V - 52V phantom power.

An incredibly accurate mic with low noise and a great cutoff. Right out of the box and into a friends Canon AVCHD via a hosa XLR to 1/8 in adapter and I was rocking with excellent quality, even in a super noisy room. I was still able to hear my subject beautifully without almost ANY white noise.

Do not delay, buy now. Do not buy the cheaper the models, you will want to shoot yourself. Pay the money for a great and very handy mic.

I'll probably still pick up an Hn4, but for now, I can at least be productive without having to worry about embarrassing myself infront of my clients.

Great Mic, Sound is nice, full, crisp, warm. For the price is an excellent mic. Its being used for video productions in a Rode boom pole. Amazon shipped item FAST, in less time then advertised. Product was brand new in sealed box and perfectly packaged.

This is the best sounding on camera microphone have ever used. The case that comes with the mic is much larger than it needs to be but I keep the mic in my camera case and never use the one it came with.
