This book is intended for students of audio and (electronic) music so they can gain a basic understanding of electronic technology in typical audio systems. you should have some background in electronics before reading it. It's an overview book and isn't too technical. It mostly describes and uses the bare minimum of math. Contains 3 practical audio test circuits you can build - power supply, audio signal tracer, mixer + a mic input for it.
TOC: 1. The Audio Chain 2. Sound Measurement (on decibels) 3. Op Amps 4. Passive Filters 5. Active Filters 6. Transformers 7. Semiconductors 8. The Tape Recorder 9. Digital Audio 10. Practical Audio Circuits 11. Troubleshooting and Maintenance Appendix: Formulas and Derivations Glossary Index Chapter 7 has the some of the best descriptions I've read on how BJT amplifiers work in common emitter, common base and common collector configurations. |
