Look people, when the iPod video ships the function that tells your iPod to produce a video signal is OFF by default. When you plug this cable in, it won't do a darn thing. 3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
Works fine for video hooked up to plasma. Switch the ipod setting to video out. However, you cannot just play music through the audio (you have to have a video to play the audio for the video through the receiver/tv). Wish they made it so you could play your itunes song library through it as well, but great value for the money spent.

That is, UNTIL you enable the TV signal on your iPod. Go to "video >> video settings" and see the top most option. As for me, it worked immediately.

One last comment in regard to picture quality. This is a cable. Not a converter. What I mean is, if you don't like the picture quality, I'm not sure you can blame the cable for this. It goes from a quarter inch connection to a video cable- the signal is the same in essence. It's an analogue output.

Just my thoughts.

one thing I will say about the cable, the 3ring quarter inch connection has a small issue- it's too long. I saw that the picture quality was blurred when I pushed it all the way in. Pulling the jack out just a tiny bit gives perfect quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best investment for my Ipod Classic, December 14, 2009

My son and I went to the Apple store in the mall to get this cable. I was shocked to see they wanted $50 bucks for it so I wrote down the model number, went home and straight to the Amazon website and what do you think I found? Yep and for less than $10 shipping and all. The company that I bought it from is in New York, they shipped it out the next day and was in my hands 4 days later. It works beautifully, I can play the movies on my Ipod on any tv with composite connections just like a DVD.

The audio cable allows me to listen to my Ipod on my home stereo. Good price and reasonable shipping charges.

I have owned this cable for a little over 2 years now, it's served me well through 2 iPods; my iPod video 5th gen and 5.5 gen

It works perfectly- the sound is a little buzzy with some TV's, but as long as you're not playing classical music it sounds fine- and it ROCKS for playing my tv shows and movies in car for my brothers to see.

Simply remember to set your iPod video settings to "TV on" or "Ask" so that it enables the cable to work.
To hear music you only have to plug in the cable as if it were a set of headphones, but connected to the TV. If that doesn't work (it always does work) then download some pictures onto your iPod and play a slideshow while the music plays, this will force the AV input jacks to accept the sound because the photos will be detected as incoming video.

I have had no problems with this cable, it's excellent quality, and I am SOOOO glad that I didn't have to pay $50+ just to have one!!!!

Everything works great. WAY easier to plug my ipod into my TV rather than taking my whole desktop over to the TV and plugging it in lol. Just remember to go to video settings and TV out on your ipod otherwise it wont work. :)

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth it, May 7, 2007
Even though it is cheap, its still not worth buying. Honestly I wouldn't even give it a 1 star. First and only use, the picture was blurry, to obtain a better picture requires jiggling of the cables and even then the slightest movement removes the quality you've worked so hard to achieve let alone maintain. The comparison would be using an old fashioned antenna made of tinfoil while being held in the air with your bare hands then freezing all movement once you've found that video quality you've searched for, but unfortuantely finding yourself in some awkward weird position you are unable to hold for that long. I kid you not, this happened to me while in possession of this chord....

Sadly to say, I am still searching for something decent within my budget
