It appears no remastering has been done, nor will be done. Just received the email equivalent of a shrug and "we tried" from them:
Thanks very much for your interest in UPSTREAM COLOR. Over the past several months Cinedigm and Shane Carruth, the director of the film, have worked together to diagnose and repair the Blu-ray disc issue. Unfortunately the issue has been more difficult to pinpoint than we first thought. A full 3rd party quality control check using national brand players was conducted and the report delivered was not able to determine the exact cause. The feedback indicated that likely a combination of the disc and certain players is the culprit. Unfortunately due to the variety of players and configurations in the market, we cannot guarantee that new mastering would solve the problem. Thereby we are unable to create replacement Blu-ray copies. Again, we appreciate your interest in the film.
Er well the dvd seems to be all right. However the Blu-ray in the middle section of the movie, where most of the straight outta mouth dialogue occurs, doesn't really match up with the talking action on the screen. I used a ps4 to play the Blu-ray, I have another player and could check it out on there, but from one of the earlier posts seems like it will just happen everywhere. I guess I was hoping that it wouldn't, makes me think I should have gone with a digital d/l from the movie's official site. (In that I originally watched this movie as a digital version and that didn't seem to have any problems...)
