AudioLearn: MCAT (Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics)

I bought these CDs a year after buying AudioOsmosis, after the once annoying jokes became something far, far worse. Audiolearn lacks these distractions, however suffers from a problem that I hadn't anticipated: AudioLearn is as stiff as AudioLearn is corny.

AudioLearn and Audio Osmosis seem to get to the same place in their own ways. Neither is perfect. Both are helpful. Both CDs were created by highly credentialed people. They cover the same information, which bolsters the faith you can have that you're studying the proper material.

AudioLearn:
-- Lectures are quite long (up to 18 minutes)
-- -- One track discusses several topics, thus making it difficult to locate specific information
-- No track listing is enclosed
-- Stiff (No contractions, no pronouns, repetitive word use)
-- -- For instance, when discussing the naming of alkanes:
-- -- -- "If the number of carbons is one, you say meth, if it is two you say eth, three you say prop, four you say but, five you say pent, six you say hex, seven you say hept, eight you say oct, nine you say non, ten you say dec."
-- Narrator sounds like Mr Sulu
-- No jokes, no sound effects
-- Mnemonics...sort of
-- -- To remember the signal that causes heart contraction: "just think of the letters SABP"... 'cause that's catchy.

AudioOsmosis:
-- Short lectures make it easy to find a particular topic
-- The jokes, gongs, applause, & laughtrack distract
-- -- They account for 20% of the lecutres
-- -- I can't stress enough how distracting they are
-- Jordan & John's co-narration makes listening more intersting
-- MAMA: Mnemonics Are Memory Aids

A fabulous product. It brought my score from a 7 to a 9 on the Bio section and from a 8 to a 10 on the Physical science section. I listened to these tapes in the morning while driving to school and on the way back, and they really helped. You'll remember alot more than you think. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

These tapes are the best way to really understand the information needed to excel on the MCAT. I was amazed with the amount of information I was able to retain and understand by just listening to these tapes. They are very well organized too. I think this is a great way to solidify the information needed to do really well on the MCAT.

I own this and another MCAT audio review and to be perfectly honest, you will learn and retain alot more useful information from this one. It highlights the things that actually appeared on the exam. It is more focused, to the point and without a lot of distracting noises and korny jokes that only aggitate an inquisitive mind. The disadvantage of this package is the fact that its on cassette tapes, but visitng their website I noticed that a CD version is on the way. My advice to all premeds is dont waist your money on an MCAT course, you'll get more than you bargained with this package.

Great tool for studying for the MCAT. I listened to the tapes over and over and I actually could recall all of it while I was taking the exam, (especially the physics). It is a little expensive but after taking the exam I realize it was money very well spent.

Awesome...truely this packet was my savior. It is so comprehensive and easy to understand. The content is very well organized. It is the best review material I have purchased and I know my money was well worthed. I do recommend this packet to all the pre-med students. To me this was the push and the extra help I needed to nail the MCATS....I would like to thank the person who put this whole package together and tell them that they have done a job WELL done...Thank you so much for all your help

Great product, especially if you don't have enough time to sit down and read. A little pricey but well worth a high score on the MCAT. My advice is listen to it a couple of times and you'll see the amazing results. BEST OF LUCK!! UCLA Class of 2002

Tried a lot of books, even the cards. This is one of the best ones so far. A little high on the price, but pretty useful.

I used these, and the Audio-osmosis MCAT CD's. I preferred the Audio-osmosis Cd's. The Audiolearn seemed to spend too much time on some simple topics, yet fly through some of the more complicated material in Organic Chemistry. It seemed as though this was an audio CD that was based on a text study guide. The AudioOsmosis CD's seemed to be written / tailored to an audio delivery method.

But for the price, these aren't too bad.

Full of high yield facts and formulas. Very well put together, some minor mis-pronounciations, but over all an excellent and unique product.
