Product Description

Diamond HDMI incorporates AudioQuest's highest-performance, lowest-distortion Perfect-Surface Silver conductors. Silver is known for its high conductivity and its "colorless" sonic presentation. Perfect-Surface Technology applied to extreme-purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by the grain boundaries that exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other coppers.

First the good:

My television is capable of displaying 480p, and I have a 2.1 surround sound system.

So you can imagine my astonishment after I plugged this into my system - and suddenly my television was rendering at 2160p, and I had full 7.1 surround!

Now the bad:

If you have an older HDMI-capable system, this cable is simply too fast. By which I mean that it transports electrons at a rate faster than your system can handle. This has a strange warping effect - and ends up showing you content from the future. A friend of mine got this on my recommendation, and ever since he connected it to his cable box and television, he has been receiving programming approximately 93 seconds ahead of the rest of the world.

Don't get me wrong. This cable offers adequate performance for something in this price range, but if you want truly high end performance, you really need to be prepared to spend a little more for the better quality. There are a lot of excellent products available but for only $12,000 for a three foot cable, the naquadah enhanced p3x-888 with dylithium contacts provides a far better experience. See, the AudioQuest Diamond is limited by the copper conductors which, like all metal conductors, can only transport electrons at just below 186,000 m/sec. My p3x-888 cable actually creates an active wormhole at each end of the cable and the ones and zeroes are actually dematerialized and transferred instantly from one end to the other, where they are rematerialized. This means that data arrives a few picoseconds earlier and less ragged for its long journey. Your zeroes are rounder and your ones are sharper than any mere copper conductor could provide.

My house recently went into foreclosure and i needed something to cheer me up. I walked into the nearest best buy with the intention of just browsing and not purchasing anything. I was approached by a beautiful sales woman who said i looked very depressed and needed an HDMI cable in my life. She showed me the most expensive one they had. I explained to her my situation and she informed me there really was no point in paying my house since i was gonna lose it anyways. This made sense to me and i skipped my house payment and bought the cable.
As i waited at the bus stop i couldn't wait to tell all my friends. I found the nearest pay phone and called my friends collect. They were even more excited than me! The next day i was evicted from my house but was invited to stay over my friends for the weekend because they wanted to use the cable to watch sports games. "Wow the picture quality is simply amazing" said my friend. "You can stay here as long you want as long as we keep using this great cable of yours". I now have a permanent home without an expensive mortgage payment! I'm just thankful i found this cable! I don't know where i would be without it!

What's great about it: Eliminates mortgage payment
What's not so great: Only one color

At a thrifty $333.77 per foot, this cable packs a big punch for those who don't want to drop all their cash on ludicrously overpriced A/V equipment. This cable features a dragon heartstring core for truly enhancing the binary logic matrix. Tests on my system show that I'm even getting 2's and 3's in my audiovisual datastream buffer, which is typically only attained by expensive high-end theater systems. In addition, this cable is able to support additional bits in each byte, so you'll notice that the sound is even more crisp, and the visuals more sharp and vibrant. My cable was even able to decode some extra footage from my High School Musical 2 DVD that did not appear on the same system with an older, even cheaper wire. Wow! Hats off to the wizards at AudioQuest for another home run. Remember: If your HDMI cable is not made out of at least 20% diamonds, and does not feature a core substance extracted from some manner of magical creature, you're settling for an inferior product.

and this is my favorite HDMI cable on the Citadel! It uses a custom designed Mass Effect field to move the electrons faster than physics allows. Totally worth a thousand dollars!

When I first bought this product I must admit I was rather skeptical. Put simply, I could not believe that something so economical could really make such a difference for my aging mid-range system. There are many products out there that cost much more and also claim to enhance audio quality but to be honest, having tried a lot of them myself, I could not really appreciate anything other than minor improvements, and I am known to be a fairly discerning individual when it comes to judging musical quality. I have to say that the AudioQuest Diamond 1m cable has made me reconsider my whole approach to the world of music and audio quality as a whole. After unpacking it carefully, reading the instructions manual, and plugging this cable into my system as directed I took it through extensive testing with the best, most technically challenging, complex and subtle tracks of my music collection. The beautiful arpeggios in Jedward's "Techno Girl" have now reached a level of color and depth that I find to be absolutely unprecedented. I was mind blown by the undercurrent of purple (for lack of a better word, as I feel I am entering uncharted territory in terms of audiophile language possibilities) mid-range notes, that I could hear like never before. Camela's "Cuando Zarpa El Amor" was also a refreshing surprise. This is one of my most-played tracks and I thought that, after all these years, I could not manage to really discover any more hidden aspects within it's labyrinthine soundscape. However, I was about to be proven wrong by the AudioQuest Diamond. Now, its deep and warm harmonies blend delicately with the synthesized strings and create a universe of feelings in my room that makes me feel like I am right there, in the shadow of music giants, when in reality I am still right in my very own living room.Read more ›
