AudioSource's AS6S 6-inch speakers go right into your walls to combine out-of-the-way convenience with the audio needs of your home or business. A two-way speaker that has a one-inch pivoting tweeter for those higher frequencies and a woofer for lower frequencies, the AS5C offers a frequency response range of 43 Hz to 24 kHz.

The speakers are designed to be moisture-resistant, with the woofers constructed of polypropylene and surrounded with Butyl rubber for durability. The baked enamel-coated grill is rust-proof and easy-to-paint, letting you adjust the speakers' appearance to your decor. The tweeters are treated with ferro fluid cooled voice coil for extended highs. For the price, the speakers sound really nice - great dynamic range for the size, and the directional tweeter is a nice touch. I'm using them as rear speakers in a five-speaker + subwoofer home theater set. Here's the problem: They anchor to the drywall with screws in front that pull the "feet" in the back tightly in against the inside of the wall. On both speakers, I was only able to get 3 out of the 6 screws to turn. No amount of torque would get them to turn and I gave up for fear of snapping off the piece or stripping the screwhead.

I was skeptical that these relatively low cost speakers would deliver but they really do. They are larger than my old JBL surround sound speakers and deliver a great deal more mid-range. My wife has complained for 10 years about the ugly JBL speakers so when I had to rip up some flooring planks and the baseboards to get subterranean termite treatment it was an ideal time to go to wall mounted speakers (I have vaulted ceilings so ceiling mounted speakers aren't practical).

I carefully used a stud finder and my only complication was a stud that was only slightly intruding where I needed to install the speaker. It wasn't really bearing (it has some give in it) and I only had to carve out about 1/8" of a small semi-circle to fit the magnet so the speaker would be flush. I think it's merely there to hold an electrical socket.

I still need to replace the baseboard molding but the sound is great. The missus gracefully allowed me to have the powered sub-woofer next to the console and the center speaker fits into a small center cabinet in the entertainment console with speaker cloth over it. Costco special, about $[...] and looks as good as $[...] consoles at Best Buy.

All in all highly recommended!

Couldn't be happier with the sound. Look good. Easy install. I put them in the ceiling instead of the walls. Sounds sweet.
