Want to enjoy music without giving over your living space to big, bulky speakers? Try mounting speakers in your ceiling. The AudioSource IC5S in-ceiling speakers sit nearly flush with your ceiling in unobtrusive white (you can also paint the grilles to match your existing color), delivering clear, full-bodied stereo sound from positions of your choice.
The discrete, compact format of these AudioSource speakers makes them ideal for applications where traditional speakers would be impractical or impossible. The speakers may be used wherever space is a consideration, or to simply bring music to additional rooms in the house, augmenting a traditional stereo pair in your main listening area. You could even use them for home theater surround speakers (rear left/right), though most movies and multichannel music releases are mixed for more direct listening.
Once installed, the in-ceiling speakers are not easily moved or repositioned. Take a little extra time to carefully consider a good location before you begin your installation. Unlike traditional speakers, in-wall/in-ceiling speakers mount flush and cannot be angled or aimed back into the listening area from the corners of a room. As a general rule, the speakers should be mounted close to, or above, ear level, and at least one-third of the distance from the corner of the room to the center of the wall or ceiling in which you will mount them.
The terminals will accommodate up to 16-gauge speaker wire (wire not included), which should be used for longer connections (greater than 50 feet of wire). For shorter distances, 18- or 20-gauge speaker wire will be adequate. Leave about 2 feet of extra wire at the speaker end to make installation and positioning of the speaker easier.

Note: Installation is required for use of these speakers. Hookup requires ceiling incisions and running speaker wires (not included) through your ceiling to the speakers.

I was a bit concerned about purchasing these speakers since I wasn't familiar with brand, but after hooking them up... I couldn't be more impressed. I've heard high dollar speakers and granted these aren't $1,000 speakers, but for the money they can't be beat. I would highly recommend these for anyone who is looking for some really good quality sound from discreetly hidden speakers.

What a surprise!,

I reluctantly bought these for an installation in a private practice for background music. My client wanted inexpensive. So I bought 4 sets of these and 4 IC7S speakers by Audiosource. Well I installed them this week, hooked to Dayton volume controls (from Amazon) and a speaker selector switch (Sima SSW-6 from Amazon). I connected it to a JVC basic stereo amp and Polk XM tuner. Well...IT ROCKED! I was very impressed with how these speakers performed. Even though they are only 5.25" they had enough low end and handle higher volume quite well. These are not speakers for audiophiles, but will likely satisfy a majority of music fans. These also work well as surround speakers. Get the bigger ones for main speakers.

Was a bit skeptical on the quality considering the low cost, but these were going in the basement so I thought I'd take a chance. I can't believe the sound quality (great bass) and power! I am now ordering a few more pairs for other spots around the house. Very easy to install if you have wire run and can handle cutting a round hole in your wall.
